Ann: Can act and negotiate really well.
Yusuke: forge documents, amazing senses.
Makoto: Knowledge bank. Police expert
Futaba: tech expert, comms, ops.

That can really apply to anyone. The flower bitch, the artsy faggot, the gay little boy, etc. Some people are gonna eat what their spout and some won't. In general, it's time much better spent than with 70% of the confidants of the game.

And if you were to be 100% objective, ever since Futaba joined, really the only characters that do something for the story worth mentioning are Morgana, Futaba and to a short extent Makoto, only because she spends most of the time talking and everyone dick riding her. To the point where opening a door as the only thing done in the 3 months span she was in already seemed like more than the rest in the same given time.

How to fix Haru: Make her a social link earlier in the game that gives you access to the veggie growing stuff (best would be right after makoto joins your party since you can access the rooftop again), lock her S. Link at 4 or something like sojiros until she becomes a party member. - The end.

what sucks about her SL is that you can finish her dungeon right at the start of october or whatever but the game doesn't just lock you out of her SL until the end of the deadline, but the 3 week info-dump that takes place afterwards. on the otherhand you can date makoto as soon as you 1-day trip kaneshiro's dungeon. such a fucking crock. you literally lose a month because of this.

If you think about it in the sense you worded the traits at first, then being the financial support does apply to her "role". Ryuji being the fastest due to his track shit doesn't end up helping at all except for that one time in the ship, moreso him being pretty much the slowest party member. Futaba really only applies as a hacker, the comms and ops shit doesn't get seen at all. """"""Amazing senses"""""". Ann working as a mediocre actress but never really end up negotiating with anyone as she did trying to deceive other characters.

To sum it up, the traits you posted originally try to define the party members' profiles and what role they'd fit, but in reality, most of those things end up not being seen or happening. It's the same for Haru.

like was pointed out earlier, it makes it seem like there will be some in game punishment for doing this.

The worst thing about Persona 5 is the Baton Pass. It's a great mechanic, don't get me wrong, but it's good to the point that it makes the people without it useless. That, and the confidant bonuses in general mean that any new teammates are invariably gimped. It wasn't so bad with Yusuke, but it became noticeable with Makoto, and then Futaba isn't an actual party member, so by the time you get Haru she's so outclassed it isn't even funny. I had people with their ultimate Personas, and poor Haru can't even baton pass yet. To add insult to injury, not only do you start Haru's social link with maybe a month and half of the game left, you need max proficiency to even start it.

It's a shame too, because she's great stats/abilities wise.

Haru was created before Hitomi, the whole reason Hitomi doesn't join your party is because they could barely fit in stories for all the party members anyway. It doesn't make sense that they would scrap her just to add a brand new girl

Nah she wasn't. Hifumi never made it beyond concept phase and the only thing they had settled on for her was that she'd be the team strategist. They decided to transfer that role to Makoto instead, but they liked Hifumi's design so they kept her around as a Confidant. Quoting the P5 artbook here by the way.
