>Riot working on ways to foster positive player interactions in League of Legends successfully dropping verbal abuse by more than 40 per cent according to lead game designer Jeffrey Lin

>Blizzard seeking to provide development teams with feedback about how much you enjoyed a match, data will be used over time to improve matchmaking and the game in general

Meanwhile Valve wants you to pay for mods, which used to be free, so they can get more money. They also are constantly sourcing the community efforts in CS:GO to make money off their weapon skins as well as making money off of digital stickers, sprays, and new colors for your 'gloves'.

Valve hasn't released an original IP since... when exactly?

>Meanwhile Valve wants you to pay for mods, which used to be free, so they can get more money

Doesn't exist.

>They also are constantly sourcing the community efforts in CS:GO to make money off their weapon skins as well as making money off of digital stickers, sprays, and new colors for your 'gloves'.

That game would be dead in the water like CSS or 1.6 without gambling and trading for wares.
>>
>>378333272
Valve doesn't want to "charge you for mods", they want to reward people putting hours and hours into things and getting nothing back.

They also forced nobody to charge. If modders did it for nothing but passion, they could still put it out free.

Reminder that donators get almost no donations whatsoever in the "tip jars" that everyone wants.

Also it could improve mods, because mods right now are in a pretty shitty state.
>>
>>378333272
Valve's entire business model is basically "do as little as possible while making as much money as possible". Considering their management structure it's not surprising.
>>
>>378333848
>still defending paid mods

THEY LITERALLY TRIED IT.

IT WAS A FUCKING DISASTER.

ENOUGH ALREADY.
>>
>>378333272
>Riot working on ways to foster positive player interactions in League of Legends
they just censoring and banning people. They made possible to be banned even for constructive criticism. This is absurd, fucking bans instead of mute.
>Blizzard seeking to provide development teams with feedback
because retards cant make good and balanced game from the start. Modern Blizzard has no idea about game design or balance, they just a bunch of marketers.
>>
>>378333909
what are you talking about? They didnt lock content behind paywall. Its others who charge their customers for shit Valve giving away for free.
>>
>>378333978
It will 100% come back, sooner or later.

It just doesn't make sense for people to work hundreds of hours on games without anything back.

Valve has basically already implemented it in Dota 2 where players are making most of the skins in the game.

It will make mods much much better because it will allow people to work full time on mods.

Who got fired and now works for a shitty AR company in a trashy Florida beachtown. Makes you think.

>Blizzard
Because people never lie in those surveys, and Blizzard never ignores feedback from their fans.
>>
>>378334550
When listening to feedback only pisses off a different group "speaking for the playerbase" I'm not sure what you're looking for.
>>
there is nothing wrong with paid mods

most of the time it is better value than regular dlc

I bought a m&b mod and it was great
>>
>>378334258
Fuck mods and fuck you steam nigger
>>
>>378334898
The HotS team is actually the only ones doing feedback right. They don't respond to one group.

They simply post their reasoning for changes in patchnotes without calling out any specific playerbase.

Too bad the game itself is trash.
>>
>>378333978
the only reason why it failed was because of people downloading mods off nexus and selling as their own when they didn't make it

get a job
>>

How is that different from donating money to let's players? In both cases the original creator gets nothing.
>>
>>378333272
How about if Riot Games reimplemented Team Builder?
>>
>>378334258
They did it for free for 30 years, they'll keep doing it for free. Now shut up and make more horse cock mods for nothing, wagie
>>
>>378333272
>Riot and Blizzard are good but Valve is bad
They are all fuckers, Riot wants you to pay for every single champion instead of giving them all for free like dota, and Blizzard Won't give you season cosmetics unless you made thier game your work or pay real money, and valve just went full jew with the steam community market, the fuckers get money even if the same item was sold twice (5% for each sell) so if you same item was bought and sold 20 times then valve just got that items value from 20 idiots
>>
>>378336875
>so if you same item
So if the same item*
>>
>>378333272
that is cuz 90% of valve ip are just mods

>riot pretending that the toxicity is not inherently induced by their shitty game design and development decisions over the years

If the single player would actually matter people would not be so mad.

Do yourself a favor and break free from the addiction simulator. Can't wait for league to die so that fags will start smashing their pc as a symbolic act of freedom

Like all these fags did with world of warcraft.

>Riot engages in very morally questionable business practices and fucking over everyone that helped their game become popular. Jeffrey Lin performed various social experiments through LoL and used data (including that of under aged children) without player's consent in his publications. They also straight out stole concept from independent artist in order to make their champion without ever compensating artist after that, or even contacting her in any way.

>Blizzard sells you microtransactions in a game that you have to buy and pay subscription to. They also threw out all good wow devs and brought in Diablo devs that are also known as Team RNG Cancer. Their new IP is clone of another game and it's marketing is pandering to levels everyone thought it's unimaginable. Their main 3 franchises are just copy of another company's franchise that they were fanboys of.

Cherry picking thread?

Why would Valve work on verbal abuse in a game where 90% of the players don't speak English?
>>
>>378334258
>It just doesn't make sense for people to work hundreds of hours on games without anything back
>believing this bullshit

Valve and Bethesda want you to believe this so you pay for something that you never used to and the two of them can take their cut of each sale.

If you want to support modders, donate to their Paypal or some shit.
>>
What a stupid ass thread. The first 2 greentexts apparently extoll the virtues of Dota's competitors, but then you just complain about non-Dota related things that have to do with Valve.

It's like comparing the Big Mac / Whopper / Baconator, listing the pros of the Big Mac and Whopper and then going on to complain about the french fries and salads at Wendy's instead of the burger.
>>
>waaaaah somebody who i will never see in real life and have very low chance of ever seeing again said some mean words and hurt my feelings pls perma ban him

>Meanwhile Valve wants you to pay for mods, which used to be free

You have no understanding of how Steam's proposed mod marketplace would work.

1) Steam does not want to (and cannot) "end" free mods
2) Steam does not choose which mods have a price on them, the mod creators do.
3) cosmetics are optional and nobody except you has a problem with CSGO's cosmetics marketplace
>>

Astroturf that shit brother!

epic meme
>>
>>378343139
you are creating a really hostile environment in this thread right now anon
>>
>>378343793
why would you legitimately be against cosmetics as a form of monetization, especially if it's community creators who make those skins?
I can understand hating loot box gambling bullshit but beyond that cosmetics seem like the most reasonable way to monetize a game long term
>>
>>378333272
>Valve hasn't released an original IP since... when exactly?- 37 posts and 5 image replies shown.

How is this relevant, it is obvious that they have become a game store platform, and do not consider themselves game devs anymore.
>>
>>378344425
DLC is the cancer that killed video game innovation, and the conversation you're trying to have now proves it
>>
>>378344740
lmao how did dlc kill innovation and what does that have to do with selling cosmetics?
>>
>>378334258
>It just doesn't make sense for people to work hundreds of hours on games without anything back.
Mods were passion projects for the love of the games being modded.

It makes sense that a joyless retard like you wouldn't understand the concept of doing something because you love to do it, not doing something to get paid.
>>
>>378333272
>have tons of matches in lol were fafs kept ping spamming
>never said anything
>one day can't hold it in snymore and call two spammers out in being fags a rew times
>they lie in all chat they didn do nuthin
>call them out to be lying fags
>get a 12 day ban because in a single match I called two asses out on being assholes for ping spamming
Riot tries to reign in their community via terror while penalizing the wrong people. Instead of fixing the core problem they ban people being annoyed by those very core problems.

Welö at least they finally managed to put in a ping mute.
