I admit, sometimes I get frustrated when I play a game. But I've never gotten so mad that I've done something like throw a controller or smash my keyboard, let alone go full ham on my desktop. How do people ever get to that point?

When I used to do it it was because I had nothing good going on in my life. Bad job, bad relationship or single, no money, shit car, no friends, family doesn't care.

But I had video games, they had always been there and they were the only thing I was good at. So when I sucked at a game it meant that I was wrong and that I was good at nothing. I was bad at the one thing that I had always enjoyed and those moments would fill me with such anger that I would smash the shit out of everything.

but a more serious answer: I've known past friends, who can be considered the spoiled and pampered type, who would be careless and abuse their controllers. Didn't matter if the controller broke, mommy or daddy would go out and buy them a new one, no problem.

The only time I got so mad at a game that I did something destructive was in a dark time of my life (NEET at the time) and was playing WoW WotLK 12 hours a day.

Don't remember what happened, maybe wiped on a raid boss or whatever, but I gripped the top of my mouse and slammed it so hard in to my desk that it made a 1'' deep hole in to my desk and shattered the mouse

I sat there horrified at myself for a good hour.
I now have a full time job and don't play MMOs.

did that when I was 11-12. was definitely the hardest cheat in the game, felt like such a boss when I finally did it. It was the last one I needed too. I think I was right on 2:05 when I did it, wasn't even expecting to. still remember the time required kek even though I havent played the game since I was that around that age.

RARE was encouraging speedrunning with those cheat unlocks before it was cool.

yeah goldeneye did so many goddamn fantastic things like that. each difficulty level not only increased enemy damage etc, but it also gave more mission objectives. if you did hard, you'd also unlock two extra levels at the end, medium would unlock you one new level, and easy would give fuck all.

the speedrun shit for unlocked cheats was particularly great though. more games have to do that. best unlock cheat was turbo mode given from silo. when we played multiplayer we'd always have it enabled, made shit so fucking fast. paintball was cool, too.
