You actually do slip on it. The way slipping works in this game is if you climb just long enough, or if you jump onto the wall. If you jump onto a cryonis pillar's side, you'll slip. The only one with the slant in their brain is you, anon.

this ! Just a little bit survival elements. Like the need of sleep or some other shit would do wonders.

Just imagine a game like souls or a party heavy rpg.

>You talk with your party during this, get additonal convo unlocking sidequests or whatever

This would be just fucking awesome. And I am not talking about super duper survival elemtns, which I hate. But just a little bit crafting and this camping idea would be great.

Press down on the dpad when holding items to switch between dropping and throwing.
You can use plants and mushrooms to attract fish, as long as the bait has an effect that matches the fish's own effect (Stamina shrooms attract Stamina fish, etc.)

they had the camping stuff yes, but that wasn´t like what I meant. Let us take BotW as a World and it´s size. Then say we take Dark Souls like actionrpg mechanic + all the "beeing alone" feeling.

So you are now in a world, on your own. Story is more about lore and you get slowly further. You are in a forest and you didn´t slept for 12 hours. You need to find a place to lit a bonfire and chill there. You can only take a limited amount of some items, which you can only organize during bonfires (kinda like witcher). etc.

>botw makes it the most annoying thing ever

That's just one of the hundreds of reasons this game sucked. You would think they'd at least give you items or equipment to make climbing in the rain easier, or hell making it a higher set bonus for the climbing gear. This would have been exactly a good moment to have the hookshot too. Hack ass developer.

>who needs dungeons
>who needs music
>who needs a story
>who needs unbreakable weapons
>who needs a world with actual stuff in it

At that point, who even needs a zelda game?
>>
Why isn't there a set of gear that negates the climbing penalty while raining?
>>
>>378346753
rain is why a hookshot or grappling hook of sorts would have been golden, even one with limited durability

you cant move anyone in it or decorate it to your liking. only put up weapons for decoration and thats it. It's ironic, too. The devs know that most of your weapons break, so they give you a literal gallery to give the weapons you dont want to break another purpose: just to sit there and look good.

I grew up playing VII, VIII, IX, X... Stopped when they went online with XI and never looked back. Then I fell for the XIII meme, thinking it might be like the FF of old.

Never understood the wining about the rain. Nintendo made a game where the weather, the climate and the environment are all intricately connected. The gameplay informs the player and affects their choices and - in turn - influences how the player interacts with the world. Nintendo made a living, breathing world of consequence. Shit's next level gaming but kiddies gonna complain anyway.

People who complain about the rain are casuals who cannot into adaptation because they're used to modern games holding you by the hand and beating you over the head with tutorials.

The funny thing is, if the game made a prompt that read "hey, listen, you can't climb as fast when it's raining so find somewhere to rest," there'd be half a dozen threads going on about how Nintendo is only for children who can't think for themselves and how they don't trust their audience to figure out basic shit for themselves.

Better off just ignoring them.

Theres cooking pots at every stable. And every stable has a shrine next to it, so you always have a way to warp one.

I haven't given in on finding everything on my own but goddammit, why a Kass quest? He can be anywhere save for extreme climates, but that's still a lot of ground to retread. If both shrines end up being Kass quests that'd be a real kick in the balls.

It's already good enough that you have a place to rest, store weapons, and cook; it doesn't need any bells and whistles to make you stay in one area for too long.

Anyone else have this problem with BoTW? I feel like once you've played for enough time, you've seen anything and nothing surprises you anymore. You will only find weapons that are the same but stronger, enemies that are a different color, or another shrine or korok seed. Literally everything about the game is god-tier aside from this, but it's the one thing that matters the most, especially for me. The reason why I love Ocarina and WW is because those games are constantly throwing new shit at you.

If you don't like the way the feature works, that's fine. But it is a design choice, not incompetence.

Also, if the recharge timer started before charges were used up, the powers would be practically infinite because you don't use them very often. Unless you're crazy casual,
in which case you have no place to be questioning developer competence.

I think I must be in the minority, because I like everything about the Ganon sequence. Nothing about it was particularly hard as long as you were at least a bit prepared, but I felt satisfied, and even go back and replay it sometimes.

>>378370494
I tried to do this, but I was doing the main quest exclusively out of the gate, so I wasn't as familiar with the world. So I usually just used Pikango (which I still liked how he didn't just pinpoint them). I only stumbled on one, and that wooded area one was complete bullshit.

The final one was rewarding because I really had to put on my detective hat. Turns out it was a place I hadn't been, so I had to use pure map analysis.

It doesn't matter, the distance for jumping up Cryosis is too small for that to be an issue since you clear it in one hop and your stamina refills rather quickly so there's not much chance in pissing out when you're making an ice bridge

You can do a few neat things with the combat and physics, but once that wears thin, there's not much left to offer. I found myself avoiding just about every encounter for most of the game.

Never found him, which is why I called it bullshit. Again, just had to study the map, but there aren't any real landmarks in the photo, and there's a fuckton of forests in the game. So it was just "where's a forest with woodland type trees that I don't have any Korok seeds nearby?" Which still wasn't a great strategy because even if I found a Korok, I may not have seen the memory glow. The radius for their visibility should have been a lot higher in general, really.

Also, new topic: Which language do you prefer? I think Russian is it for me. German is close, but I'm familiar with it, so it breaks the whole "sounds like a fake language" thing.

Yeah, anyone who can't see how grating that would become is braindead.

When one of the miniboss battles starts, especially Molduga, or when you enter the ice leviathan cave, or any of the towns, or when you're riding your horse at night and the classic theme quietly kicks in, etc...

The ambient nature of it makes it so that when a more themed song does play, it means something. Also this Ganon theme is hands-down my favorite in the entire series. Same theme throughout, but each beast incorporates its unique instruments, and the final battle incorporates all + the classic Ganon theme. IT's amazing.

Cryonis ice isn't really ice - it has those runes on it, and it doesn't melt which is the critical bit, and it can be broken with your rune while real ice can't. Ice is only slippery if it melts - pressure makes ice melt which is why it gets slippery when you step on it. But Cryonis ice doesn't melt so it doesn't get slippery.

It's to me by far the greatest exploration game ever made easily, yet I feel it fell short in places where all the other Zelda titles in the series succeeded.

Here's hoping that the next game can nail both the exploration aspect and the core Zelda experience. I'm frankly just glad they finally decided to go in a new direction. Abandoning the 3 hour long introductions and handholding partners was the greatest thing they've done in a long while.

There is no means of direct player input to stop yourself from sliding down walls in rain.

All you can do is just not explore until the rain is done by skipping the rain. You're not dealing with the rain, you're avoiding the rain. If your solution to Lynels killing you was avoiding Lynels then you're not dealing with Lynels.

So don't climb the wall unless you have stamina + climbing set, you silly billy.

>All you can do is just not explore until the rain is done by skipping the rain. You're not dealing with the rain, you're avoiding the rain. If your solution to Lynels killing you was avoiding Lynels then you're not dealing with Lynels.

Objectively wrong. You are dealing with it. Flight or fight is a term for a reason. If you can't brute-force a situation, use a different solution until you reach a point where you CAN use brute force.

As far as rain goes, there is very rarely a point where you can't find an overhang to build a fire. This is truly a very early-game problem, and really only if you're going in blind and don't already know alternatives.
>>
>>378376387
>So don't climb the wall unless you have stamina + climbing set, you silly billy.
Once again, then you're not dealing with the rain if it's don't climb the wall. Stamina plus climbing set doesn't stop you from sliding down the wall.

>Objectively wrong. You are dealing with it. Flight or fight is a term for a reason.
Objectively wrong. Fight or flight doesn't apply if you're avoiding the fight or flight situation altogether.

Now, the bottom line is, what direct player input prevents the player from sliding down the wall periodically while climbing in rain?
>>
>>378372585
I used to feel this way, but after playing the game all the songs I discarded ended up growing on me. I will also add that Botw's battle theme is my favorite battle theme in the series because of how it starts subtle for smaller encounters but gradually gets more intense to accommodate for larger scale fights. Its a huge step up from 10 second tense string loops.
>>
>>378376386

Yeah maybe if you just stand there and do nothing, sure. But if you build a fire or do one of the 20 other solutions that have been listed throughout the thread, you have dealt with it. That is the literal definition of dealing with it. Finding a solution to a problem is dealing with it. I'm sorry you just want to climb that wall for whatever reason, but as long as you reach the destination, you have dealt with the rain. This is not a debatable thing. If you reach where you were going, the problem has been dealt with. It doesn't matter how.

>Objectively wrong. Fight or flight doesn't apply if you're avoiding the fight or flight situation altogether.
You do not understand that phrase.

>Now, the bottom line is, what direct player input prevents the player from sliding down the wall periodically while climbing in rain?
FINDING ANOTHER WAY TO HANDLE IT. I mean yes, you are right. You will slide down the wall when it's raining. It is a core mechanic in the game. Your argument is like saying for any other game "This wall is in my way. What button can I press to go through the wall?"

That is absolutely stupid and if you can't see that, I'm not bothering replying to you anymore.

>The good DLC comes out in December

>>
>>378377454
>But if you build a fire or do one of the 20 other solutions that have been listed throughout the thread

You can't build fires on vertical surfaces and once again that's not dealing with the rain it's just don't climb at all.

>You do not understand that phrase.
Just enough to refute your misuse of it.

> I mean yes, you are right
I accept your concession.
>>
>>378377454
>You do not understand that phrase.
Not them, but there's nothing to fight or flee from if you're never in a confrontation to begin with.

People are less tolerant of the rain in regards to climbing because climbing is not a particularly fun aspect of the game to begin with. You don't climb for the sake of climbing. You climb to get to the top and move on. Having random bouts of rain that force you to take even more time or find workarounds to something you don't enjoy to begin with is what people hate about it.
Having climbing gear that does practically nothing to resolve that issue just rubs salt in the wound and feels like a missed opportunity.

>You can't build fires on vertical surfaces and once again that's not dealing with the rain it's just don't climb at all.
Am I being baited? Of course you can't make a fire on the wall. You drop to the ground walk less then a minute, find something you can build a fire under, and sit. The rain is now gone. It has been dealt with. You continue up the mountain and reach your destination.

>You do not understand that phrase.
>Just enough to refute your misuse of it.
aslo >>378378162
Fight or flight is the instinct of either directly confronting something, or avoiding it. If you know something is there, and you choose to avoid it rather than confront, that is choosing the flight aspect of fight or flight. Literally. Either way, you are dealing with it. It was a problem, and you found a solution.

>I accept your concession.
It wasn't a concession because there was no argument to begin with. You were regurgitating a fact (rain makes you slip on walls... no fucking shit) and trying to make it into some sort of point, But your "point" is stupid and incredibly hard-headed. It rains and you get upset because you can't use your one approach, climbing, to handle it. The game gives you a ton of ways to deal with rain if you're dead-set on getting where you're going. You're just too stubborn or stupid to acknowledge them.

People bitch about BotW not having traditional puzzle aspects, but then also bitch when the game gives them a new sort of puzzle to deal with, and they can't think outside the box. If you don't like it, that's fine. But simply put, you're hung up of the semantics of "dealing with it." You're mad because you slip when it rains. If it rustles your jimmies so much, go play a different game. You have numerous ways to tackle the problem, but you can't climb that wall so fuck it. It sucks.

Use Korok seeds and upgrade your available inventory slots with the happy tree fucker first found near Riverside Stable (I think),

I didn't know about this until post game, but even then, equipment degradation gets easier to manage as your progress.
>>
>>378379801
yeah I found that out pretty quickly when I met him on my way to Kakariko village the first time. Upgraded melee weapon slots 3 times and then he said he had to leave.
Idk where he went now.
>>
>>378379964
Riverside Stable I believe
if I'm wrong, hopefully another anon will correct me
>>
>>378379964
He goes to another location one more time before settling down by the Deku Tree. I think it's along one of the roads leading from where you first find him, but I could be wrong.
>>
>>378377065
just look up a list of shrine quests online
it's not worth the hassle of talking to every NPC just to get told you have a new quest, before also being told you've beaten it
>>
>>378379718
Darknuts and Redeads. Maybe something else that I just don't know they name of. Also the Oktoroks on Death Mountain are sort of like Dodongos too.

>Looking up stuff online for a game like botw
Lmao
>>
>>378379718
Darknuts, Redeads, and Like Likes definitely. I was surprised as fuck to find out there were no Like Likes. They seemed like the perfect enemy for this game.

Add in Skultula's and Poes (poes only come out at night and/or in dark places) and then recommend that they include more Wizzrobes in camps and I think you're set.
>>
>>378379718
why the FUCK does this game not already have tektites in the hilly areas?
they would be perfect for areas where normal monsters can't navigate the hills walking
like you stand on top of a boulder and all a bokoblin can do is throw rocks at you
>>
>>378381347
>stand on top of a boulder and all a bokoblin can do is throw rocks at you
This was the most dissapointing aspect of the otherwise good AI. I do my best not to cheese it, but I shouldn't have to think about that. Also just general awareness and "where did he go? oh well" could be better.
>>
>>378355584
*ouch*
>>
>>378381561
I think they should have a longer timeout for magic tracking skills where they know where you are with obstructed vision

what really gets me is, all the AI actually has dynamic jumping movement to go DOWN cliffs. Fight the moblins on the platform on a big hill in the badlands of death mountain and ragdoll them onto cliffs and drop down and they'll jump right to the ground to keep fighting you

so why couldn't they just give monsters a jump UP the same way they jump down? Watching every monster in the game other than a lynel become completely impotent when you stand on a rock felt like skyrim
>>
>>378382267
Hard mode apparently makes them more aware, but it seems like it just improves sight range. Hopefully it will take some of this into account as well. I don't think we'll see them jumping up mountains, though.

>900 seamlessly hidden korok puzzles

>"""""""""nothing""""""""" to explore

Just stop.
>>
Any word on the emulator version, is it playable without cheat engine yet?
>>
Fuck auto climb. You shouldn't automatically climb when you run into a wall or tree
>>
How the FUCK do I kill the hairy nigger on the mountain for the zoras?
>>
I just realized that the Phantom Armor is going to look hilarious on manlet Link, especially when he's standing next to other people.
>>
>>378389941
Don't. Just run around him and collect the arrows scattered about, Or git gud
>>
>>378389941
you don't, just run around and take his arrows, and then come back when you have better weapons
