Well they're getting rid of cross-class job actions and simply making a "Role action" system for most of the common go-to cross classable actions, but they're also taking a lot of the damage steroids that everybody grabbed for their jobs and making those job specific so no more Blood for Blood on every job, it's just a DRG skill now. I doubt they'll let WHM double up on MP regen. If anything, they might reduce MP costs of spells for WHM. Pure healers are kind of tough to balance, they either become mandatory or too situational. Doesn't help that AST's core design is basically WHM+, it's mostly numbers that were holding it back. Don't know about the second one. For the first, they're mostly all ok, but I think you'll find most people tell you to avoid GLA and LNC. They both go for huge ranges of the early levels without you having a lot of tools to play with. They're not so bad if you'd already leveled everything else and have access to cross-class abilities, but you're starting fresh.

Books are the only big grind nowadays but the content is so easy that you can just Netflix it. I soloed every dungeon as a warrior except Lost city of amdapor and Stone vigil hard since you can't beat the instadeath mechanics alone.

In the same interview, Yoshida says that he believes that people are getting tired of the current Relic system, so he wants to "do the opposite" with 4.0 relics: Instead of using the relic quest as an excuse to do content, you will explore/grind on Eureka to specifically work on your relic. He is also considering adding things like NMs with 72h spawn time on Eureka.
I'm guessing he is really confident that Loliful Tails is reviving old content (since he rejected the idea of a raid roulette because of Khloe), so relics will be a whole "new" type of grindfest.

The problem with the default options of every face is that they are all fucking awful, no exceptions. you need to spend some good time on character creator to figure out good face/eyes/etc combos. Hopefully Stormblood will show us some good examples.

Gordias was terrible. Midas was really fun. Creator hit that sweet middle ground between challenging and accessible to newcomers. Fuck elitist gatekeeping; no raiding community or game as a whole can survive on their small community numbers that only decrease between every patch.

The hype and aesthetics for Alex was also much better than Coils, despite the story being largely irrelevant.

Gordias's biggest problem wasn't even the overtuning, but that 3/4 of the fights were just lazy, underdesigned shit. I don't even think A3S was some super complex or immaculately-designed fight or anything, but when you look at it next to everything else in that garbage fire of a raid tier, it does start to look like a masterpiece.

Midas was the best raid tier this game's ever had. In a perfect world, Alexander would have started with a Creator-level tier, then moved on to something a little more similar in design to Final Coil, and then ended with Midas, which would have been a huge success if Gordias hadn't already pre-divided the game into people who could smash Gordias and play the game very well, and people who didn't know shit about shit about raiding because they'd washed out of Gordias and basically gave up.

Creator was a boring, shit-easy tier if you'd cleared Gordias and Midas, but wasn't a terrible set of fights overall, and was probably exactly what the game needed to keep the raiding scene from just dying off beyond the impossibly-small group of hardcores who were left after the first two tiers.


Void Ark was undertuned, even for a shitty 24-man raid, and more importantly, was just fucking boring, where almost every single mechanic was entirely ignorable, and none of them were interesting or fun if you actually did them.

Weeping City was great, exactly what a 24-man should be. LotA is the only one that was ever better.

Dun Scaith was just okay. Not good, not bad, about normal for a 24-man. I liked it more than Syrcus and WoD.


Bismarck was crap.
Ravana was great.
Thordan was fucking awesome.
Sephirot was almost as good as Thordan.
Nidhogg was boring and shitty except for the music.
Sophia was boring in a premade group but perfect difficulty for the Raid Finder and I had a lot of fun with it that way.

It was actually a really easy transition if you didn't overlook the early-50s Collectables, which almost everybody did because I guess people assumed that Collectables were only there for Scrip, and all the people who write guides tend to be the sort who were stat-capped crafters in ARR and could just easily start doing 100% HQ Leve items.

If you try to level a crafter from scratch post-HW launch, though, those early Collectables are absolutely the best way to do it.

Oh yeah, and they still have the skill that makes them immune to damn near everything for ten seconds.

Forget off tanking, good paladins will be nigh unkillable and the defacto choice of raiding unless the other two really get something special.

I hate activities in a game that practically require the use of third party information instead of giving me the means of acquiring the information myself through in game means. Fishing is still comfy though but fuck these hoops man, I just want to catch shit.

Sheltron obliterates any advantages WAR has in being tanky, now that blocks work on magic. Unless you're talking about a WAR in 100% Defiance using every last bit of their resource on Inner Beast, in which case it really doesn't matter, because in that comparison, the PLD is only a little bit less tanky but DESTROYS a full-Defiance WAR in damage.
