Actual question here, it always seems like flash has a ton of units in production at all times, and whoever he's playing against manages to hold out for the first push then it's like they go into standbye without actually rebuilding their army and then loses. What gives?

Semi-Finals are hype matches. Finals are one sided.

They keep letting weak players win through one bracket, while the stronger one wins on the other.

Flash fucking messed with the brackets, unbalancing his group turning it into an easy win.

Flash and Shine already met recently, and Flash convincingly won. Shine had a lot of tricks, and they did damage, but Flash was able to defend enough, and get through. Shine WANTED to face Bisu, since he has a 5:5 record with him, and his game against him is strong. Shine may have lost if he had faced anyone else.

Luck means he's in the finals.

Flash probably has the best macro out of all Brood War players, others just can't keep up. Macro also counts for a lot when it comes to winning RTS games of any kind, which is why Flash is one of the best players.

The only time you won't see a predictive GG is when two playes reach endgame and base trade and both of them still have a chance to scrap out a win.

Like it might have seemed premature the previous game to you, but Flash was only seconds away from destroying critical tech and production buildings, completely shutting Soulkey down.

Remember, they have to maintain morale and focus for the entire series. Continuing a fight you have clearly already lost is not conducive to this. Al though it does happen that a very confident or endurance style player will drag things out specifically for that reason, to wear out his opponent.

A base trade is when the players attack the enemy base and don't defend theirs. They give up their base with the hope of destroying the enemy base before their own base can be destroyed.

This can either end the game, or the players can save some workers and build bases in other places, maybe even the remains of the enemy base.
