In case there's potential rookies thinking of starting this great trilogy, Consult this Starting Guide,
then see the /vg/'s huge Stalker General for more tips and links: >>>/vg/stalker

Play in the release order. Start with no mods - only latest patch, OR get the full "Starter Pack" first; these contain bug-fixers and light visual mods that can help performance as well.
Leave big overhauls for later playthrougs. Avoid the "Complete" -mods. Always play on MASTER difficulty for best realism and atmosphere, and disable crosshair.

Don't give up in the beginning! The starting gear sucks ass and first area can be a bit boring.

That voice made me shit my pants, and I had to spam f5 every 10 seconds in the sarcophageous.

Call of Chernobyl is bloody brilliant. Having heaps of fun with this mod.

I loved the first two games, and can't wait to try Call of Prypiat.

The only downside is that I get around 30 FPS on 720p min-med settings with the dynamic light turned off... and I have a Titan X Pascal.

sounds like your game's somehow running on your CPU's integrated video chip. Though even modern integrated GPUs should get well over 60 on Static Lighting.

the living fuck? Even my previous PC with Core2Duo + 8800GT 512mb got easy 60fps with med-high at 1080p, DX9 Full dynamic lighting, in vanilla / starter pack'd games.

Yeah. It really annoys me how much of a SoC expansion pack CoP really is. I got memed out of playing CS for years and when I finally did it blew my mind how much new shit they tried and how much effort went into CS and how it was all rolled back for CoP. Shows you how much a good launch matters, I guess.

1.0 version of CS was just a fucking disaster, I managed to beat it without patching but holy shit it was a chore trying to get through some bugs somehow, but it does have the best stalkan.

I'm testing out Sigerous Mod for CoP after getting a bit burnt out on CoP. It is really fun, I love doing the quests for the different factions, and the road to Pripyat was intense. Any good weapon mods to go with it?

No. They're two big overhaul mods, and those never go together nicely.

Nor do I understand why'd you wanna mix buggy and brown crap like AA with the glorious AMK anyway. If you need "better graphix", just slap on the Starter Pack's visual mods. Maybe also the LURK's Arms addon.

The purpose of the whole mod is to let you wander around the zone and experience the atmosphere while running some jobs or whatever you want.
Also isn't there only 1 added map, the car park? The rest are from the 3 games.

I got plenty of arties after playing for a day or two, they just don't completely shower you with them.

Which is the only way an open world game can really work. SoC had infinite respawns too.
