I'm really struggling at Desaix's fortress and the desert stronghold with when fighting Wolf.

With Desaix I plow through the Cav. I gave Lukas the Ridersbane which he makes short work of most enemies and as long as I watch out for the Witch he usually doesn't get melted. But Clive's woman is dying super fast for me to be able to do anything about it. When I actually get to Desaix he's super fucking strong and javs down most of my people. Any hot tips boys?

For Wolf, spam Invoke. The little guys will draw ALL of the aggro (really, I left Genny at 1 HP within Wolf's range and he still attacked the Illusions) which will let you ping at the archers with Leon relatively safely.

Desaix can be trivialized if you made Faye a Cleric. You can Physic Mathilda from the other side of the map. That way you can take your sweet time luring the enemies out of the tileset and towards the stairs while Clair darts in and out taking the archers that stray out of the Knights' range (kill the Cantor first btw)

Celica is great and the only bad thing about her is 4 Mov, which you can change with the free Boots from DLC rewards. Her stats are very well balanced and being ranged from the get-go is better than being melee-locked like Alm. Alm does have Double Lion though which is great but the early game is more fun and Celica is better then to me.

Literally the only bad unit in Celica's route is Boey and even he can become great with the free DLC Pitchfork. Alm has some rather questionable units like Tobin (relies a lot on RNG level ups to be functional in the long run), Lukas (terrible class, decent early game but becomes shit the more you play the game), Clive (mediocre bases and growths), Forsyth (bad class, bad join time, mediocre bases), Python (bad bases, supports with another underwhelming unit, bad join time).

Atlas is best as either a Mercenary or an Archer. Mercenary fixes his terrible SPD/SKL growths and Dread Fighter is very useful in Celica's route. Archer lets him nearly one-shot things (Especially fliers.) from a safe distance, allowing your other units to go in for the kill. His stats, bar ATK, won't really improve as an Archer as they do in the Mercenary class, however.

As for his other options:

Not that great because it's too well-rounded and doesn't fix his problem stats like Mercenary or take advantage of his ridiculous ATK like Archer.

Armored classes depreciate in usefulness very quickly in Celica's route due to the abundance of arcanists and cantors. The swamps in Act 4 especially hinder them as well, making them even more of a detriment. I can probably see him being more useful by endgame, but he'll definitely be a pain in the ass to train.

>Mage
This one is alright. Like the Archer, the Mage really appreciates his high HP/ATK, but his spell list is shit and Sages are inferior to Priestesses in just about every regard.

Anyway, I personally used Archer!Atlas in my playthrough. He did very well. By the time he got to Bow Knight, his ATK, combined with a fully-forged Silver Bow, was enough to one-shot annoying enemies like Arcanists and severely wound bulkier enemies like Necrodragons and Cantors. I highly recommend the class, but I'm starting to think that, in the long run, Mercenary -> Dread Fighter might be better for him. However, I can't deny that a Hunter's Volley coming from his ATK stat is very satisfying to land.

They're much better in this game than usual. In most games their range is 2, no more no less without a special Bow, and in this game it's 1-5. They can counter melee units and pick off dangerous 3-range Mages like nothing else. Combine that with the Killer Bow's overpowered special attack and they're murder machines.

Tobin is the best one of the villagers imo due to this enormous skill growth. By the end of the postgame dungeon he had mid-30 skill and was pulling 80% crit rates.

Codename Steam and Fate were made around the same time I'm guessing so when Codename Steam ended they most likely started working on SoV while people were ending Fates. Also heard there's a lot of FE2 fans in IS which I guess is one of the big reason this was remake first after FE got popular.

Summoners are fucking stupid and unfun in this game.

My whole plan was to take out the archers and send Palla and Catria to flank and take down the summoner while he and Greith were separated, it took like 20 turns to finally take out the archer without someone dying and thought it was almost over but it actually costs no HP for him to summon and I'm not sure if he has a limit but it seems like he just summons boskeletonrp's whenever he felt like it, so there was no moment of vulnerability ever.

So I tried to fight fire with fire and use Invoke but half of the summons just stood there and did nothing and the others were vastly underpowered compared to the enemies.

It's not even challenging, it's just a waste of time, zero fun.
