Another thing you can do to assess the quality of your characterisation is to attempt to describe your character -without- referring to either their physical appearance or their function/role in the story.
If you can't describe someone without talking about their race/gender/religion/bodytype/style of dress/job/etc. you've fucking failed as a writer, and a lot of Overwatch characters flunk this particular test.

To be on topic, I played lots of WoW. The one time I stopped for a few months I got hooked on TF2. So I loved the shit out of Overwatch at Blizzcon 2014(?) and I counted the days to release. Clearly I'm not that into it if I don't even bother with ranked. I just take the game too seriously and losses just feel so horrible. I'm compelled to assume my teammates were the majority of the fault in the loss. Winning doesn't feel earned enough. Ladder anxiety is real. I can't bring myself to play it very long.

TF2 was much more relaxed. 11 - 31 other people to rely on, much less focus on individuals, and a less important meta. These could sound like bad things but I think they're good in this context.
