No, it's right; the amount of time you spend playing the game is dependent on how much fun it is. To the left of the minimum you've got the "it's so bad it's good" and to the right, you've got "it's more fun so I spend more time playing it."

according to the graph, as fun increases time goes down sharply then has a steady but non linear increase, fix your shit
>>
>>378275150
You're missing the point. Fun does not determine the time - time determines the fun. So, it should be graphed with time as X.
>>
>>378274774
So, if I'm reading this right, you're asking for a game doesn't exist for two hours, then instantaneously is fun, but simultaneously gets worse and better over the next few hours, and then gets very fun the more you play it?

>>

You can't do that with a single game dipshit
>>
>>378275338
You're looking at time wrong. You're thinking of it as time in the sense of "To -> Tx," not "time spent playing." More time is spent playing the game the more fun that it is, with a few exceptions of games that are played even though they're the antithesis of fun (e.g., Dwarf Fort).
>>
>>378274774
Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky FC

Starts out really, REALLY fucking slow and boring under the guise of "comfy", and then gets fucking CUH-RAYZAY about 1/3rd of the way in.
>>
Final Fantasy 12
The game gives you alot of freedom to try and go outside the "basic" combat setup by farming link chains, setting up efficient gambits, unique party set ups. But then gates it all behind a multi-layered system of needing the license (which requires LP from combat), needing either the gear or the skill or spell (which needs to be bought at prices that may not be attainable until certain points), or flat out not having them available until the devs say so. So the player ends up knowing the freedom they will eventually have, hours before it shows itself proper. There are various ways to game the system: get a later game item early by chaining kills of the same genus, doing side quests (that have surprisingly little documentation in the menu when almost every other game aspect is laid out in the open, very meticulously), min/maxing your license board layouts.

The game lets you roam almost entirely free as you will as well. Then you run into the problem of "bridges in DQ" by having the enemies be a noticeably tiered up level and stats to follow. You can likewise skirt this limitation with clever team setups or item use or chocobos.

The game shows all of it to you very early, but you are still gated beyond belief in getting to where your imagination envisioned hours prior. But when you do, damn it becomes awesome. Around level 24 I started fighting Marks that were level 30-ish. I was setting up clever gambits to make combat speedy. I was traveling the world basking in the amazing lore and really feeling like I was a part of it.

It made looking at my license board, planning my next few unlocks I had set my mind on, then going out and grinding (it really stops being grinding; you end up doing something productive every time you set out) actual factual fun.

You gotta like that type of autismal planning and execution though. I personally would put almost any roguelike on the list for OP's image too.
>>
>>378274898
No, the less fun you have the slower time goes. Never heard about time flying?
>>
>>378274774
>ITT: Games where this happens
You mean a game being simultaneously 2 different levels of "fun" from the start of the third until of time to the tenth unit of time, and non playable during the first 2 units of time?
That's an easy question.
>>

>>
>>378274774

Tenchu 3 definitely.

It's fun and cool being a ninja at first, then the difficulty hits and you lose 45mins of progress to falling down a bottomless pit or getting seen ands stuck with the crappy combat.

And then you finally git gud and you're an unstoppable, unseen killing machine- taking nothing but your grappling hook into missions and getting Grandmaster Rank the first time.

Then you beat the second campaign with ease, then unlock the secret third campaign.

Then you play through the first two AGAIN on the silly dubbed over joke story because you're so good you can breeze through it and it's actually pretty funny (Rikkimaru is on a quest to retrieve toilet paper or something ridiculous like that).

Fucking incredible game, did not surprise me when I looked later and saw it's from the guys who went on to do Dark Souls.

At least persona 5 gives you some fucking semblance of a story, and interesting characters instead of making you go god fucking knows where to piece together a vague as fuck story, using amnesia as a plot device and a cast chock full of forgettable characters.

I really wanted to like breath of the wild. But between all the fetch quests, repetitive shrines, and forgettable music I just couldn't.

My absolute melanin man. I'm thiiiiiiiiis close to getting to the fun part. I already have my failed playthrough of 10 hours of getting the hang of the mechanics under my belt. On this playthrough, that I plan to beat dammit, I've finally got a 5 man party of named people set up (Guella Ha best boy), got some skills set up enough to wander as I please, somehow got my hands on a piece or two of the fatestones, and... I don't know. I can't remember what I was doing in the game but I think about picking that playfile back up again any day. I think was about to go climb a mountain.

The game is maddeningly beautiful in its complexity. Once you get it, any part of it, the natural way any mechanic unfolds just works. It finally all clicked and it was amazing. Conceptually, its my favorite game. I love the sd look of the characters and world when most don't. I love the omnipresent goofy dub, and the music is amazing most of the time. The freedom, the worldbuilding, the damn ecology system. The skill and vocation set up is brilliant and makes you really feel restricted in the job, but free to pursue it how you want. You wanna be the greatest pirate ever? you can do that. You want to be the shittiest knight ever? you can do that too. The general mechanic set up, the engine that runs the vehicle that is the game, is very very much like final fantasy 12. I'd even say that ff12, in its grand scope, budget, and popularity, ended up being only a shadow of what Romancing SaGa achieved quietly and more beautifully.
