BakaBT has the entire thing in non-shit scans with good translation, the one floating around on web readers is the godawful fanslated "Band of the Hawk fanslation group" one which is google translated and then touched up complete with shit scans.

There really isn't that much, 38 volumes.

I wouldn't say an eternity, no. There are only 38 volumes as of now, with the 350th chapter just releasing this week.

I'd recommend giving the 1997 anime a try, to give yourself an idea of the tone and setting without the committment of reading a whole bunch. If you get about ten or so episodes in and find yourself invested, then read it online. I watched the anime for about that many episodes and was totally captivated, dropped it for the manga and never looked back.

By 20 hours I was referring to the excuse used for video games, but yeah I read more than volume 3 and Berserk never got good. First couple of chapters were real interesting but then went overboard on Guts being edgy and lost any appeal outside of being "awesome" to emo teenagers or people just interested in the off chance they get to see a 2d girl raped by demons.
