soon, its only a matter of time before devs (indie or not) try to emulate 90's cgi
>>378261719
why is their fur sleeves
>>378261719
>soon, its only a matter of time before devs (indie or not) try to emulate 90's cgi
More than half of them can't even get 8-bit aesthetic right and barely any of them do 16-bit proper.
What the hell makes you think they'll even approach this with confidence?
>>378261562
Not any time soon. Believe it or not, renders of this quality would take a few minutes on even the most powerful machines today.
>>378261719
The hell is light sticking through the tire? A fleshlight?
>>378262869
it's very much easier to emulate this look than to do a good 8 bit game, in fact it would take a lot less time
I've got to say I've always been a fan of the "style".
>>378263153
they could do a myst clone
>>378263238
It's a post supporting the dock.
>>378261719
Boy have I got a game for you.
>>378263238
Its the top of a large wooden peg that's been shaven down and has a metal brace around it. Like the things that hold up a dock. There's a few others scattered around the picture. That one just appears pink cause the light is shining on it.
>90's bullshots
I wonder how many kids bought a N64 thinking that the game would actually look like this.
Anyways, I would support this. I wish we were to get games that look what you'd see on '80s computer games and Atari boxarts.
>>378263374
90's CGI that is.
>>378261562
Let's just stick to PBR.
>>378263772
slightly wierded out by these for some reason
>>378263692
Something about just speaks to me.
Remind me why exactly these renders are still hard to do.
It's the lighting, right? Or is the polycount still huge? I'm curious.
>>378264501
Extremely high polycounts and lighting, but low-resolution textures
>>378263772
Is LLL/Fire Sea literally hell?
>>378264458
It's a shame the resolution is so small on all of these, but I suppose it's understandable given the speed of the internet when they were uploaded.
>>378263153
How? should computer being like 10000 times more powerfull now than then?
>>378265159
yes but
>>378264615
the reason these renders look aged is because of the texture work
look at how smooth the models are, and how detailed the reflections and lighting are
look at the hair on >>378264918
>>378263772
Top right is the spoopiest
>>378262615
Engine limitations
>you will never play a game that looks this good
>>378263374
reminder that the model for this was one of the males working on the game
>>378266697
He has very nice legs.
>>378266697
Well, with primitive 3D tools, you need a poser to have a joint reference.
>>378263772
>bottom left
WHAT WAS IT. WHY WAS THE CITY UNDERWATER.
>>378266697
Well I doubt anyone there had the courage to ask a woman to model for them, but someone had to do it for it to look right.
>>378267075
Probably something like this, but on a even bigger scale. I wish Nintendo came out and explained what the fuck is supposed to be living in those houses, even if it killed the mystery.
>>378261562
>>378261719
are you people legitimately retarded?
These look like trash and games have long surpassed shoddy CGI like this
>>378267987
>games have long surpassed shoddy CGI
no they havent. post a screen as proof if you are so sure
>>378268253
if you unironically think this looks worse than >>378261719 then you can kindly fuck off
>>378266487
>>378268351
tbqh I'd play it.
Doesn't FNAF kinda look like this style?
>>378263153
What quality? Mario aside, who's nothing special either, everything look like it was made by Bethesda
>>378268594
you are literally blind and retarded
the polycount, shading, rendering, lighting is far better on the dk image. get new glasses, gramps
>>378268594
The textures are better but the modelling and lighting is not.
Trying to animate something that high poly on a game console would result in massive slowdown due to the complexity.
Instead devs focus on textures to make things look better.
>>378268594
the 90s one has a much higher poly count and more anti aliasing, you probably couldn't render it at 30 fps
