Horrible for games that need multi button combinations. I remember playing mario world with this controller in the brawl demo. It was awful. But for games specifically made with that layout in mind it's great. Mario sunshine, melee, and other are fucking great.

Dpad is tiny.
C-stick isn't precise enough and needs a better grip. Could be fixed just by giving it the left stick's thumbstick.
Should've used an L1/R1 L2/R2 setup instead of what it did.
L and R buttons take too much effort to click.

Still a pretty good controller.

Nothing. The Gamecube controller is like the sword. Once the basic premise was formed any permutations are trivial to nonexistent. Only the N64 controller (the staff of gaming) was better, due to the potential for six-axis 3D movement that the control set-up allows, and a dedicated Rumble Pak that doesn't vibrate the buttons under your fingers disrupting gameplay.

Several top players like Hax and Mew2king have had hand injuries that completely prevent them from playing. The controller's really stiff, not very ergonomic, and requires very fast, rapid, specific inputs.

I only play Peach and even my hand starts to cramp a bit after one-two hours of continuous play.

Thinking about it, I really can't. The GC controller is pretty much the only one I ever used where I didn't feel gimped compared to M/KB.

Surrounding the joysticks with a hexagon to let the player perfectly snap to any 45% angle was such a brilliant addition. I have no idea why nobody kept it moving forward, or at least no system I know of. It strongly diminished the shitty floaty inaccuracy inherent to joysticks.

i don't own an xbone, but i was a fan of the 360 pad (aside from the atrocious dpad)

Giant A button and awkward surrounding kidney beans killed any hope the console had of gaining third party support.

Tiny d-pad and shit c-stick. No analogue stick symmetry (stick and d-pad should have swapped places.

Loud, clacky, unresponsive shoulder buttons.

Extremely short cable, need to sit right next to the TV.

Small and hard to depress z-button that still expects to be treated like the N64's z-trigger.

One of the worst official controllers out there. Nintendo just can't get it right.

because you don't need a 45 degree angle

in a lot of FPS, players tend to raise the sensitivity so they don't snap all the way while aiming and becuase if you do need to snap you don't have to do it at some exact angle because of aim-assist

Gamecube controller is a flawed masterpiece, but I cant see it maintaining its strengths/pros by fixing them (except for the lack of 2 shoulders + clickable sticks, and a select button, no real reason for any of that)
Not a controller for everyone but it hits a certain niche pretty well nowadays, especially with its octogonal gate
