Haha time for some criticism because I'm never satisfied.

Flat out diminishes characters uniqueness in a game that already has minimal differences between characters as it is. Each character should have had a large chunk arms they use be unique to them and them alone, all while having a different pool of universal items that can be used by any character.

My biggest issue with the game, particularly when using heavy weapons like the Blorb is that I'm never really sure how my stick movement is affecting the movement of the weapon. Like, if I'm jumping and punching, I always feel like I'm not sure what I'm controlling.

Anyone else get that problem? I guess it's just a matter of getting used to the game.

Open betas are there to test server capacities, netcodes and of course find bugs.

In addition to the other responses, there's also corporate concern that giving people an extended open beta to do bug testing could potentially put them off of the game. Not because they hate it but because it itched a scratch and now there's no desire to buy. Therefore it can be good to limit the beta to a small swath, thus generating hype and secrecy and desire to be in the beta.

Plus some companies even have betas for people who pre-ordered the games, though I'm not sure if they're always for testing the games or just a glorified demo where players feel involved.

I played 2 hours and I still can't decide.

Spring man felt very balanced and reliable, felt easy as a beginner.
Ribbon girl is fast and is the aerial goddess.
Master mummy is so fucking tank, and I love having my punches pass through other people's punches.
Min Min's kicks are cool, I haven't made much good use of it yet, but I want to learn.

The only character I see myself not maining is Mechanica.

Well, through their designs, absofuckinlutely. It's pretty much right there. Popular, red, and twirly hair are the three huge traits that match.

In terms of gameplay, though, Ribbon's more relatable to Chun than Karin. Not through kicks, obviously, but mobility. Chun's big thing in her games was pretty decent mobility and crossups, whether it's headstomps and walljumps in the traditional fighters or straight-up multiple jumps in Mahvel. Meanwhile, Karin had very few appearances in games and does not matter and also I'm comparing two games with drastically different gameplay styles like a shitter.

You got points and so do I. It's all fair.

I'm loving Ribbon Girl. Jump over attacks, drop back down and hit them with a charged Sparky to stun them for a free grab. Also really into Min Min and Mechanica.
Least favorite is definitely Master Mummy, but he's by no means bad, I just haven't gotten gud yet. A skilled Master Mummy can be a pretty frightening opponent.
