Still, a lot of people think it's a masterpiece. Overall we can agree that it's a decent game.
I personally liked the game a lot but I'm a sucker for open worlds. On top of that I don't get the hate towards Aloy. She isn't that ugly in my modest opinion. I find her quite cute and mautre.

It had the potential to be more than nothing
All HZD had to do was be a good Monster Hunter clone with cool mechanical designs, but it failed. It gives you boring ass TPS gameplay that we've seen a million times by now, a lame, heavy handed story, and one of the most boring main character's in recent memory.
The only thing this game has going for it are the graphics, but the gameplay is so bland that people need to post the same webms that have been posted for hundreds of times just to try and make people believe it's impressive.

I understand that but let's go deeper.
Guerrilla Games used to make linear FPS like Killzone, right? Right.
This mean that they moved from that to a third person open world and on top of that they made a new engine from the ground up. I think the Decima engine is pretty sweet and the controls feels very nice, unlike Witcher 3 for example where Geralt feels clunky in the movement while with the Decima engine Aloy is very smooth to move around. I think they made a big step and I believe that they can improve in the sequel.

It plays more like Far Cry Primal than anything else. It's cardboard cutout gameplay at the most. The only weapon you get is a bow and a melee, which is fucking boring. Monster Hunter has a bunch of variety in its weapons, and it would have been nice to see that done.

Other than the enemies being mechanical and the game being third person and the setting being post post apocalypse instead of far long lost past it is pretty much far cry primal. You only kill to survive and get more ammo.
