I think it'll be fun. Played every Far Cry except Primal and I can't say I disliked them enough to stop playing. They just become really empty and repetitive after awhile. Add that to the fact that they're way too easy and I can't really call them stellar games, but they're worth getting on sale and playing through.

Probably what I'll do with 5, looks like it'll be a pretty fun sandbox to play around in for a bit.

Montana is the fourth larges state by area, and the fourth smallest state by population. This is because despite its beauty, it's pretty horrible to live there. Montana is also different from the rest of the midwest in that it isn't just flat and boring.

The American rugged northwest is almost never done in anything, and you're more than welcome to try and find other media that is located there. Most "American" scenes in films are the California wilds, which are vastly different.

Plus, America has a unique religious environment that allows new religions and crazy cults to spring up in places like this, and has guns like crazy. I think it's perfect.

I'm legitimately kind of excited for this game. I've skipped 4 and haven't gotten around to trying Primal yet, but I'll probably end up getting this one when it goes on sale. The controversy is way overblown (by both sides), but that should've become clear to anyone who actually watched the trailer. I actually really like their choice of setting for this one, since I'm a sucker for the "modern western" theme. Also, having the main character be customizable is a pretty decent addition, since Far Cry protagonists always kind of sucked.

FC4 was pretty good actually, the story and characters were pretty fun and the map was cool.

Primal was a spin off that should have been half price, but it was also fun. I was on the circlejerk for years, just played it a week ago and had a blast. didn't finish it because i didnt like the characters or the story or the missions, but the weapons all felt solid and combat was a blast. run out of ammo? throw that shit. felt good.

I'm sure 5 will be the best one though. The setting is great and all the characters look great, minus the bar girl... her trailer sucked. Why do I care when and where she kissed a boy? Far Cry is literally the only series they do right. PC ports are always spot on and optimized well as well as fun, a lot of content for the money, and decent replayability. If we want Ubisoft to do better, then you support the games they do well.

Yeah, being able to shoot while driving was one of the best addition 4. They also made playing with m&k better in 4. I remember mapping the weapon wheel to Q and having to hold it down for a bit before it popped up. 4 didn't have that problem. As for action prompts, they didn't bother me that much, but they were annoying at times.

I like the humor of the previews, but the game is going to be digitally available regardless of what console you want to get it on. There is no supply issue that could justify buying the game before we know for sure if Ubisoft fixed the gameplay or not.

Think about the last few Far Cry games. The general theme is isolation, fish out of water and survival. All of that could work in an ISIS setting, but Far Cry also seems to create isolation by having a setting where not only are you physically trapped, but the outside world also doesn't really give a shit about where you are so you can't expect help from the outside. A tiny Asian hellhole? A pacific island? a rural county in the middle of nowhere?

A better locale for an Islamic extremist Far Cry would probably be the tribal lands of Afghanistan with a smaller scale Taliban-esque enemy than some terrorist group getting reamed by the major nations of the world.
