Is autobalance a necessary evil?
Only if it's optional on dedicated servers.
>dominate other team
>auto-balance
>forced to join the losing team
go fuck yourself
Autobalance based on skill is bad. Autobalance based on # of players is good.
I don't care, as long as I get to play the game
Games should just end or be paused if the player count is uneven. Also,

You just wanna play baseraping stomps?

God I wish TF2 didn't change its autobalance

>>378219414
Why do you care if you lose? You know you contributed to the other team's win. If you take away the things that I pointed, you shouldn't care.
>dominate enemy team
>own team starts shittalking
>change teams
>dominate original team
>they start leaving
No better feeling in TF2, prove me wrong.
>>378219705
>uninstall TF2 right after mannconomy update
No better feeling
It makes it hard to feel invested, honestly. You will be the main driving force bringing your team to victory, or at least doing some very helpful support work, then the switch happens.
Yeah, you keep playing and trying to do good, but it just won't feel as good if you had stuck to your team
I feel autobalance midgame is shit. If a game saw how good you were before, kept track of your stuff, and balanced teams based on member profiles before, that's fine.
>carry team in tf2
>game asks me to switch teams after first half
>switch and start carrying other team and get more exp
i see no problem
>>378220128
>get more exp
Wait when did they add EXP?
Matchmaking is the true cancer
It means shit players only play shit players in their shit player meta and too bad if any of them actually wants to learn to play the game properly because they will never encounter proper play without grinding their way through a million shitters just to get the opportunity to actually learn at which point they are probably playing a completely different game to high skill games and are really just abusing low rank cheese
People who play competitive games and then call it 'unfair' when they play players who are better than them and lose are absolute retards

No autobalance:
>one team gets shit on and won't improve because they get pubstomped
>other team shits on the other, but won't improve because they aren't challenged
Removing autobalance from TF2 specifically was a bad idea, but it was equally bad that they removed the option to jump over to the other team when you felt the match was unfair or that when you wanted to fight against better opponents. Now a days most casual matches are pubstomps, either you get shit on or you shit on them.
>>378220379
>no time limit
>on a map where one team has to run out of time to win
>>378220503
Basically you defend until the attacking team wins, it can be fun sometimes unless the enemy team is completely shit-tier and it lasts forever.
>when you're winning and it auto-balances your worst player to the losing team
>>378220653
>when the best player on your team gets auto-balanced over to the other team
>When you join the server and it autobalances you before you can even pick a class
>>378220653
>that player is (you)
>>378218360
It's okay if it doesn't simply switch over the next dead to make a 1:1 ratio.
New players should always join the team with less people though, should maintain a disparity of no more than 5 players.
>>378220884
How did this elf spill milk all over herself?
>>378221140
Don't worry I cleaned it all up.
Honestly it was better with auto balance in TF2. Now one team caps a point, half the other team leaves, then steamroll, and the server empties.

>>378223340
That's why you switch to spectator first anon
TF2 needs to establish a middleground
1.) Auto-balance needs to happen during Waiting and Setup.
2.) But during the middle of games keep the new system of consensual swap to the other side.
There, I fixed it. Nobody could complain about that.
>Dominate enemy that has been shit talking all game
>They go spectator and back to their team
if my team is destroying the other guys, i'll usually just switch to the losing team anyway. it's more fun fighting uphill
only downside is if ur're uber pro like me and carry so hard that your team dominates no matter what
>>378220459
What the Hell they removed all that from tf2? Jesus man
>>378223614
I know. Servers still block you and publicly wag their finger at you
>>378223754
give me incentive to get more exp and levelling up and maybe I'll consider switching.
>>378224019
>he cares about levels in tf2
>>378218360
Is a product of terrible times. I remember people switching to the "losers" side all the time in ET pubs. Then, the newer "positive reinforcement" generations kicked in and they do the opposite, always switching to the "winners" side. The so called "gamers" don't play for fun or challenge, they play to win, get some fictional MMR or unlock characters/crappy cosmetics.
Vidya has declined.
>>378224118
I don't, that's why I need the incentive to. The """reward""" that Valve gives to switching teams isn't worth getting rolled on, not especially that it works one at a time and by the time you spawn you'll be outnumbered again.
>>378218783
>play with friends
>get auto-balanced to other team
mm yes delicious hurt me more snake
>>378224134
I distinctly remember auto-balance always going off at the worst possible time
Like, I would be on offense capturing the final control point, then die as it was nearly capped and auto-balanced to the defending side and then before I could get out and do anything they would finish capping the point and I'd lose.
I'm not necessarily mad over something like that, but always thought it was silly.
>>378224375
>I'm not necessarily mad over something like that, but always thought it was silly.
Because is silly. Anyways, what kind of sperg get mad about losing pub games?
>>378224375
Yes, well, it goes off when people leave. People about to lose ragequit, then you get balanced.
Autobalance should always prioritize the newest player on the server for the swap.
>>378224667
Only if there's a constant influx of players, otherwise one guy is constantly getting shit on
its great and I love it
I have a feeling only stack fags care
stacking is bad and u should feel bad if u do it
Compfags ruined everything. They should've gone vanilla stock only from the beginning instead of influencing weapons "rebalancing" into safe, Boeing choices instead of fun and silly.
>>378220223
>People who play competitive games and then call it 'unfair' when they play players who are better than them and lose are absolute retards
They complain because they were *promised* a fair game. Yes, they're retarded for ever expecting a f2p team game plagued with afks and sub-10 hour players to put 12 random people of similar skill level together consistently, but fairness is what was advertised.
No because there will always be another round.
