MH is one of the very few modern games WORTH playing for 100+ hours. I've been playing these things since PSP and MH4U and MHX are by far my most played handheld games. Modern gaming is an absolute shit-show, there's good games coming out, but none of them last upwards of 30 hours. So when one which I KNOW can entertain me for hundreds of hours is announced, of course I'm going to get excited.

Keep in mind, I spent those hundreds of hours playing at a shitty resolution, on a tiny screen, on a hand-cramping console with a piece-of-shit nub for camera control. Now I'm being offered the chance to play a version of that game with a better resolution, on a larger screen (or even my television), with several options for controllers, a real joystick for camera control, which also comes packed with new, harder content AND I can transfer my old progress.

If you really can't wrap your head around why this is exciting for some people and why the price is a non-issue, I don't know what to tell you.

Trust me, I enjoy MH a lot as well. I've put well over 100 hours into several of them. However this doesn't mean that I'm going to spend $400+ dollars on a new console just to play a MH that is largely the same as Generations. Sure there will be some people willing to shill out for it, but they are a small minority.

If they announce MH5 and it looks like they actually put work into it instead of a cheap cashgrab, that might convince me to actually get a Switch. As of now though, there is no reason too. Too expensive, no exclusives.
