It was a lot longer than I expected. Steam says my playthrough of the campaign was 34 hours, but of course that includes reloads, pauses for bathroom breaks, etc.

Plus I spent almost 2 hours just playing with the AI. Also spent a lot of time doing the Metroidvania thing and going back to places I couldn't reach before. I still feel like I missed a lot of those. I found only one v3 blueprint.
>>
It was good but the voice actor for the main character brought it down a bit since she sounded so flat and bored all the time.
>>
>>378210086
I'm stuck on the airlock part the alien keeps fucking me up
>>
>>378211705
Yeah and woman suck tbqhwy.
>>
>>378210086
This game came out in 2014?

WHAT THE FUCK

It feels like yesterday.
>>
>story puts James Cameron to shame
>gameplay is OK
>robots are creepy
>aliens are cunts

17/20, would piss myself again.
>>
Are the DLC missions worth playing? I did pay an extra $2.50 for them.
>>
Is this game very taxing for an older card? r9 280x asking. Can i just tone down everything and play?
>>
>>378212885
It's very well optimised for PC, didn't have a problem with my GTX580 back in the days.
>>
>>378212885
Dunno about that one since I don't keep up with video cards as much nowadays, but it ran smoothly almost maxed on my GTX 770. I turned off some effects just because I don't like them.

That wasn't my experience. Flamethrower ammo is used up so quickly and the ammo is rare enough that I was never comfortable just walking around in the open and relying on the flamethrower to get me out of a jam. Same goes for the molotov and pipe bomb, since they both require a lot of resources to craft.
>>
>>378210086
how hardware demanding is it?
>>
>>378212885
I got a GTX 660 and it runs perfectly. The scene in OP is a cutscene, it's not that demanding all the time.

>>378214092
I'm fairly convinced the flamethrower meme is perpetuated by people who quit right after you get it, when it is at it's max effectiveness. There are even segments towards the end that are built around sinking its ammo and making you feel like Ripley at the end of Alien.

You got two groups of people, people who hate weapons in horror and people tired of closet-hiding simulators. This game compromises it by giving you the a weapon that slowly loses its effectiveness as the game progresses, and people still complain.
>>
>>378214650
After the Xenomorph disappeared for a while, I noticed it became pretty trivial to dispatch the Working Joes when the developers probably expected you to sneak past them. Right after that, however, it introduced the Hazard Containment Working Joes, and I had to go back to sneaking and hiding from them. And the HC ones seem to be much better at spotting me in the dark.

Anyone try this mod yet?

whats the best difficulty to play?
is the hardest diff overkill for the 1st playthrough or fine?
>>
>>378210086
I forgot how beautiful this game is, must be played in the dark to appreciate it.
Gonna have to play it again sometime
>>
>>378214650
The only time I remember feeling like the Flamethrower wasn't so effective/I needed to conserve ammo was when you were having to deal with several aliens at once. Maybe I'm remebering wrong but I feel like there was a pretty lengthy period between first getting the flamethrower and that point and it was extremely dull before it got fun again.

The joes were about 10 times more horrifying than the alien
>>
>>378215594
It's fine, the alien kills you instantly regardless.

the AI gets used to the flamethrower and it looses its effectiveness if you rely upon it. at first the alien runs from it, then he hits you and runs, then if you use it too much he will kill you. also if you run out of ammo he hears it and kills you.
>>
Best part of the game was throwing a noise maker at groups of humans and just watching the alien fuck them up, wish there was more of than instead of androids.
>>
The hardest difficulty makes the game twice as scary
>>
The immursion is the game felt great honestly. Keeping up with the old 80's computer vibe and everything really helped sell the world it was in
>>
>>378215867
I did that but with a magnum shot, I hid below a gurney and saw the Alien kill the humans, kinda gruesome too when the Alien grabbed one and he was struggling and blood was splattering so hard it reached the ceilling up top sticking to it.
>>
>>378215594
I played through on normal. Feel like I should have gone one level higher, because I had plenty of ammo and supplies the whole time. I ended the game with the max number of all crafted items except for one noise maker I had to use to escape the multiple xenomorphs in that last room.

>>378215867
>see group of asshole humans with guns
>throw noise maker into them
>have fun watching the ensuing carnage
>xeno is aggressive for the rest of the level, but wouldn't have been if not for the noise maker
That part was much easier if you didn't make any noise at all.

>>378215839
This explains a few things. I thought it seemed like they became more resistant to it, especially towards the end of the game.

Where were you when you realised a video game had a better Alien story than the new prequel movies?
>>
>>378216408
I heard the Monolith one was better. Which makes sense, as Monolith is a legendary FPS developer.
>>
>>378210547
This. Have played through it five times already.
>>
>>378217089
You heard wrong, the newer one is mediocre at best.

Give it a couple of what seems to be a couple of weeks and before you know it, it'll be 8 years old.
