The only reason they are adding it is because they wanted DRK to have a shiny HUD graphic like all the other jobs, but thought that just having one based on their MP bar would be lame. Reprisal is half the reason that you try not to OT as DRK, and that's gone. Blood Price is the other half, and we don't know what's happening with that, if it's going to be a significant part of 4.0 DRK, or if it even still exists in its current form.

We know that Low Blow, Reprisal, and Shield Swipe are all either gone or changed to no longer benefit from being hit. Blood Price and the damage reflect on Vengeance could easily be up on that same chopping block. They probably want to avoid giving any particular tank any skills that increase DPS but only while main-tanking, or defensive skills that can increase DPS while off-tanking, to avoid having classes that always want to be MT or always want to be OT.

Moving on. Thrill actually does save you from damage, believe it or not. It directly increases your eHp which affects your survivability when taking a tank buster. With thrill, you will have a higher Hp % after taking a hit, at the cost of the healers needing to use a meatier heal to catch up with your massive new HP pool. Unless you use conva, then thrill is effectively a rampart on a 120s CD.

Two tanks are taking a tank buster than hits for 100k

They both have 100k HP total.

The mit tank uses a cooldown the reduces damage taken by 20%, and takes 80k damage. The cooldown wears off after the tank takes damage. This tank now has 20k HP (20% life). The healer casts a heal for 50k, the tank is now at 70% HP.

The HP tank uses a cooldown that increase his base HP by 20% and heals him for the amount and also increases healing done to him by 20%. The cooldown wears off after the HP tank takes damage and is healed. The HP tank is now at 120k HP and takes 100k damage. This puts him at 20k HP (20% of his original HP). The healer then heals him for 50k+20%, which is 60k. The tank is now at 80% total HP.

What's a good way to get some gil before the expansion hits? I just resubbed to prepare and everything on the market boards is dirt cheap so I have no idea how I'm supposed to get anything.

Hell, it's almost as bad as MCH was on release. All of its animations just seem either repetitive or just kind of boring. Half of them use petals and just slash in slightly different directions. AST is now making stars explode into galaxies, RDM is doing backflips and casting powerful AoE holy spells, and hell, even MCH now looks like a genuinely appealing class that's utilizing actual technology and gunwork rather than just standing still and pressing one button over and over.
