Gaben thought he could take down Microsoft but failed miserably.

Now he just wants shekels.

The PC freed of the restraints placed on it by console and phone companies.

>>378185017
If that's true why is Valve hiring up tons of driver devs and focusing them on game APIs and performance for GNU/Linux?
>>
>>378184920
Someday, Gaben's weight will approach 3% of the known matter in the universe. He will literally have become the planet we live on, his emissions crafting new stars, his piss and shit the oceans and elements of mankind's attempts at terraforming.

As soon as 2.9% is reached, Gaben will twist the small valve installed directly into his asshole, simultaneously killing himself and releasing the spigot of built-up methane that will propel us on our final journey through the cosmos, passing stars as numerous as the unplayed trash in all of /v/'s backlogs.
>>
>>378185312
I guess Gaben hasn't learned his lesson.

Paid mods.
Paid patches.
Paid graphical options.

Valve is no longer a dev, they've gone into the usury business.
>>
>>378185285
Yes, in fact they just released a pretty massive update.
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/steamuniverse/discussions/1/1291816880503248813/

They replaced the pathetic official AMD driver that's as bad as the Windows one, with the superior Linux-exclusive open source drivers.

>but failed miserable

>Steam is on the rise and continues to rise as master race NEETs and busy working 30 year olds flock to it for convenience and to save money
>Xbox One bombs harder than every other system and has suffered several expositions on how corporately corrupted they run their gaming department

Microsoft is dead, only the dudebros that haven't moved to PS4 yet keep it on life support.

>The PC freed of the restraints placed on it by console and phone companies.

Kek. The last game Valve released was half a decade ago. Valve is killing the PC platform.

>Microsoft is dead
Take Valves net worth and multiply it by 100, that's Microsoft.

Steam machines failed. SteamOS failed. GNU/Linux is like 2% market share according to Steam statistics.

Microsoft still has the PC platform firmly by the testicles.

Valve has released a few games over the last couple of years.
They've all been GNU/Linux versions of their own games, or from third parties.
Dota 2 got a pretty massive update to use the Vulkan graphics API on the new Source 2 engine.
CS:GO is apparently currently underway to get the same upgrade.

Like it or not, it makes no sense for Valve to invest in games for Windows. Microsoft has made that impossible with their attempt to lock the PC down until its no better than a console.

When you don't work out and sit your fatass next to a desk 100 hours straight to make sure your monopoly of a company doesn't fall into the gutter, you'll end up like that too.
>>
>>378185728
Valve is a private company so we don't know it's net worth. I'd estimate it to be in the 50 billions though. Microshaft is around 400 billion thanks to their PC and business software monopolies.
>>
They are already at their end game
>>
>>378185728
Think of the current Steam Machines as being like the early dev consoles you'd normally never see. They launched without good drivers, without their killer feature the Vulkan API, and without a good hardware platform.
Its the worst kept secret in the Linux world right now that Valve are working on a second gen system based around AMD's next-gen Ryzen/Vega SOC hardware platform.

Steam use on Linux has been growing pretty substantially, its just that its growing at about the rate that Steam itself has been growing. What started with a few hundred thousand users is now a few million.
Feral Interactive, who used to be primarily a Mac gaming shop and now shifting towards being primarily a Linux company have said that sales of their games for GNU/Linux on Steam have been steadily increasing.

Complete market collapse until the PC industry looks like it did when HL2 was released then they'll pretend the episodes never happened and release HL3 like no time has actually passed.

Either that or Gaben will bring about WW3 so we'll stop asking for HL3 due to us all being dead and what not.
>>
>>378186685

>until the PC industry looks like it did when HL2 was released

So thriving with diverse releases and plentiful mods?
>>
one day, when the world economy collapses, gaben and Steam will be there. Steam wallet will be the universal currency
>>
>>378186685
Microsoft seems determined to crash PC gaming with no survivors.
I remain convinced that HL3 will release the day Microsoft turns on the switch disabling Steam on Windows.

Though Gabe has said they would also release new games when Linux use hits 3% on Steam.
>>
>>378186685
Does anyone really want a HL3 from modern Valve?

I wish valve would do ipo. I would get in on that.
>>
>>378187010

Honestly I do sort of but than again I don't....

At this point HL3 is like a new Indiana Jones movie.. I know they can do it and I want it sort of however I'm scared to see what the final product would actually be.
>>
>>378187801
They're waiting until they'll have enough money to buy out Microsoft.
>>
>>378184920
>picture of wheel and stem
>no valve
>>
>>378187010
hl2 was shitty enough with 4 hours of duck dynasty garbage driving while shitting on everything hl1 did and people still sucked hl2 dick.
>>
>>378187010
At this point it's been too long for me to actually care anymore, but I guess I'd say I want HL3 simply because I enjoy FPS SP campaigns. There's no hype for it to live up to for me though, that died long ago, simply another game I'd be interested in.
