I need to try normal controls tomorrow. Motion was pretty confusing desu, though I know I could get it down if I practiced. I feel like they might be more fun than traditional controls if you could really master them, but since we only get one hour a piece with this seems like traditional controls are a better way to go.

Splatoon was pretty simple tho, it's strictly aiming. That is pretty intuitive, the only weird thing is that the horizontal axis is more responsive to joystick while the motion controls are for fine aiming, which works well.

But this game has multiple different movements to think about with two hands. It's very confusing and seems like it would take practice to not sort of panic and start making the wrong movements.

I was a big doubter and now that I've played the demo I might be a believer. As far as the motion controls go, everybody really needs to play over the course of the test punches so they have time to build up muscle memory. You can't judge that kind of thing otherwise.

This game is AMAZINGLY fun. So far I've been enjoying the testfire and I pre-ordered the game right away and noticed they have really cool colored joycons too. Getting those too because why not?

It was alright, nothing special.

Just tried the testfire and really had alot of fun. I'm kind of hoping for more content but I honestly think this game will keep me busy for a long time. Had the game pre-ordered but I might also pre-order the colored joycons and maybe another set for my wife's son.

Pretty excited and hoping the final release will be a complete banger.

I really enjoyed the vollyball. I wanted to dislike It because it's content is so thin. Just like splatoon. When games like this lose their servers. They are worthless. I like Nintendo making games I can enjoy my entire life. Like wind waker or Mario platformers.

All that said it was fun. I don't know if im going to buy it since I don't have any friends. I might.

I don't know what it is about me and Nintendo's gimmick controls but i've always been able to get a good grasp of them really fast.

Graphics are sexy.

Combat is good when you meet someone who remembers what block is and doesnt just try for grabs. Then it gets real fuckin tense.

Online matchmaking is so fucking impressive. Especially for nintendo. Training, slick party rooms, easy access, no bs, fast paced.

Turns out minmin isnt accessible as everyone wanted. Her kick requires precision, whereas fucks like mummy and metallica have blatant advantages

Master Mummy and Metallica's super armor's nice, but they still take the hits regardless. You widdle them down when they think they shouldn't be blocking, and dodge their attacks. That's easier vs Mummy though as Metallica's got her Homie's that will follow your ass if you don't shift enough, even if they tilted the punch wrong. She's got really fucking good arms at that.

Practice between matches helped me get used to how the game expects you to jump and move around, but no matter what I did I wasn't able to block. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.
I don't know why, but motion controls on the Wii never took much time for me to get used to, compared to this. The controls here are really, really fun, but difficult to get used to. I think I'd just need more time playing around with them to get a firm grasp.

Maybe. I feel like Splatoon the 1v1 core dynamic can be intimidating because of how intimate it is. With splatoon, you're always on a team so you never carry the burden alone. But like Splatoon, it does take a similar approach or maybe just a nintendo approach to an established genre: fighting games. And it's pretty easy and fun to get into.

The help thing on the menu lists 5 control schemes (motion, 1 joycon, joycon grip, portable mode, pro controller), so the motion controls are way less of an issue. Maybe give it another shot with normal controls, see if it's less clunky without fucking waggles.

The game was pretty good, I used the Switch pro controller, the only problem with that is that you have to block by pressing the left stick. But all the movement feels way better than using the joycons.

Alright, fair enough. I'm just salty as fuck at people criticizing games for mechanics they don't understand. It's like watching some let's player whine about shit when the answer is right in front of his fucking face and he's too lazy to read.

As far as FFA goes, I played with some people who were good and the matches turned out fun for me. We all played carefully, blocking and baiting attacks. You can counter immediately on a successful block by pressing the dash button. When you land a hit instead of capitalizing you usually switched targets. It was all fairly careful maneuvering and I enjoyed it. And when health got low everyone started spamming shit and freaking out. It's not my favorite mode but just like smash, I'll likely play with friends. I think it works the way it's supposed to.

Thought it was boring and really lacked depth.
For a full price game it's not worth it.
