I have a theory why that's the case. Notice how niche these games are. A lot of niche games seem to have some sort of physical "incentive" for the limited editions, which is really just the game with a bunch of tat sourced from China. While you could easily bundle all for 60 USD MSRP and still make a profit, they want to exploit compulsive buyers by making them "limited", and they are free to charge $100 or so for each. PC doesn't have physical games anymore, at least not like consoles have, so it would have to be digital only.

Now you have three versions of the game competing; the standard console version, the LE console version, and the PC version which can be had for much less than the 60USD MSRP on various keysites. The PC version would cut into their console numbers while generating them less money, so the PC version is denied entirely until the console versions have either tapered off or have been discontinued forever.

PC games always have, and always will, undersell their console counterparts, and so the only way they can see a significant return is if they goad the console buyers into buying the games again; the average PC gamer does not care for Japanese games at all, the only ones who do are the ones who played them before on console. PC is too niche for a simultaneous release of an already niche game that has to depend on re-releases and "limited" rubbish added onto the game to trick people into buying them.

The audience facilitates that sort of behavior. Console/handheld weebs are by far the biggest pool of reliable potential buyers for these kind of games, and Xseed in particular goes one step further and doesn't even make a standard physical release for this sort of game because they know they can do it. People who like this sort of stuff tend to also have a collection mentality, like wanting to own a physical copy of every SK game or something. It's reading the market and so far it's working out for them, I guess.

Because often the LE sells out long before the game comes out. Someone finds out about it later and decides they want one. One print run only, so you're getting it from a reseller. Standard editions are not worth much of anything on the other hand.

It's to the point where I can essentially get any one of these games for free by selling the second copy for high enough to cover the cost of both purchases. Of course this only works with certain companies like NISA and XSEED. SquareEnix's LEs are millions of copies and PQube sells LE extras on their site.
