Last time I posted this I talked about Final Fantasy X. Today I think I'll talk a little about Xenoblade X

So seeing reveal trailer way back in 2012 iirc was what prompted me to get a Wii U. The trailer demonstrated everything I wanted in a game: giant controllable robots, Xenoblade's combat, hard sci-fi setting, giant open world, giant killable shit. I waited years for the game to release, watching the trailers almost everyday, watching the treehouse footage all the time. When the game released and I tore open the Amazon box that housed the game I remember shouting with joy.

I played the game non-stop for days, getting totally sucked into the game's world, falling in love with NLA, and battling with a wide variety of alien beasts. Easily one of the most enjoyable games I've played. Sure the main quest fell short and was disappointing, but the game makes up for that in every other area. Actually quite disappointing we may never get a true sequel.

Parasite Eve is what the director had originally intended for FF7.

It's set in modern day New York.
You play an NYPD officer persuing an opera singer with supernatural powers that wreaks havoc over the city.

It's part detective story, part survival horror, part rpg.

The combat system was later re-used for Vagrant Story and is more active than Final Fantasy.
You have to actively evade attacks while fighting off your opponents with firearms and, later on, magic.

It's a great game.

I feel that's down to the fact XC was just an experiment and XCX was supposed to be the prologue to yet another attempt to create his big sci-fi epic, and again being an experiment with HD development and open world design. I expect his stories to improve.

Part of it is nostalgia I'll admit to that much, however, I suppose I'm just incredibly fond of the game's music and the levels. Didn't enjoy Spyro 1 as much as 3 and have yet to finish 2 so who knows maybe that'll take its place someday.

Not an original game, no, but a port of the original is available on New 3DS. It's a decent port but they had to cut back the visuals a bit to get it running.

I actually felt like this too, in the beginning. However after playing for a while I got used to it. You should definitely give it another try, or just jump straight to Bloodborne (much faster in terms of combat)
Also, in Dark Souls, your agility scales with how much you carry. If you carry less, you will move/hit faster.

I like 5 too, but it kinda felt flat at the end (compared to other ace combats) with the last missions. It has some great moments sure, but the SOLG is somewhat boring to fight even with the 10/10 music. It goes in a straight line and that's it. In my opinion the Arkbird should have survived part II and replaced the SOLG at the end. I do prefer 5's earlier missions though.

Zero on the other has the most hype final missions I ever played in a video game. Valley of Kings / Avalon / Zero is spectacular to play through. Plus fighting your old buddy in a pimped out plane is really satisfying. Even the credits are top tier.

Anyway that's my opinion. I would recommend every Ace Combat from the Holy Trinity anyway (Shattered Skies, Unsung War and The Belkan War), they're all fantastic games.

Yeah I guess that makes sense and I agree about the Holy Trinity.

I think I'm just biased because I love Unsung War so much. It has fucking everything. Steve Blum, ultimate bros in Grimm and Archer, a beautiful and competent waifu in Nagase, the music, the enemies. Everything is just fucking great (except you're right about that last boss).


It's so fucking good the trailer manages to make an edgy Puddle Of Mudd buttrock song sound amazing.
