Im not so sure anon. Anyway, look at what such a seemingly simple concept can allow for. Older games lile Clock tower enspired Resident evil, which not only inspired more games like Silent Hill and Fatal frame, but then inspired a new genre defining game called Devil May Cry and then made RE4 with a shoulder camera which set the precedent for all future TPS games.

Nothing new under the sun they say anon, but in truth, i wouldn't want everything to become a souls clone, their fanbase are a tad dull. They have taken to lumping all the games together as mere expansions of Demon's souls, they vsn never talk about a game on its own merit because of this. Also thry retroactivly take unrelated games and compare them to darl souls too.

Fuck off, Dark Souls is a modern classic and devs are only copying what works. Like anything fatigue will set in and the industry will largely move on to something else. If it never existed people would be aping whatever else was successful instead.

Those are broad genres. Souls games are specifically about being really generic action games with rpg leveling. The only difference is that the Souls series has decent level design while Souls ripoffs do not.
