I have played the last three games and Pirate's curse was the only one I found genuinely good. The pirate's tools worked well because you used them with a press of a button and could thus chain the abilities together, mid combat, mid-air and the game had interesting platforming segments utilising this. 1/2 genie hero stupidly brought back the transformations from Risky's revenge, slowing down the gameplay as you have to stop, switch form, progress, stop again, switch to another form and progress further. There's no flow in the game anymore, you're just using this form to bypass these obstacles and this form to bypass these. Instead of a high paced platforming game with light exploration it's some weird puzzle shit.

That and they seriously downgraded the art from Pirate's curse.

I haven't looked at the number, but I wouldn't be surprised if Pirate's curse is their most successful game as well. Aside from just being a fap bait game (and, should be added, being the best fap bait in the series) it was a genuinely fun, straight forward game with good pacing and some nice music.

There was a long thread about this a few days ago. Many people want the dances and they somewhat right it is the gimmick of the series but if Wayforward want to progress forward they either have to go or turn them into one button items like in Pirates Curse. Dances could be minigames here and there but nothing else.

Also PCs character artwork is a gift of the gods, go back to that. It is one of the rare cases where the official art is better than any fanart on the web.

Haven't played it. Got bored with 1/2 genie about 60% through. Then I played BotW and Nioh and when I tried to go back to 1/2 hero it just felt laughable. The good thing about PC was that it was so light and easy and all the challenge came from quick mindless twitch platforming. If I want to spend time slowly traversing landscapes there are better games to play. But if Risky's mode is like PC I might muscle through it.
