Torn between hype and concern regarding CS3.

I don't really get why they're bringing back old characters while simultaneously sticking us with a party of weak students again. In the Sky trilogy, your party became progressively more powerful throughout the 3 games, and by the 3rd your party was literally an all-star cast of powerhouses that defeat all of Liberl's best.

Here in CS3 they give us a smaller class VII with a brand new group of weaklings. I don't really get it. And there's no indication that people like Tita, Agate, Randy, and Olivert will be playable. Why does Falcom want the main party to be weaker in the Cold Steel series so bad?

My issue is power levels. We already went through 2 games where the main cast couldn't accomplish anything on their own and had to be bailed out by grown ups. Falcom seems to think that having NPCs come in at the last minute and save you every time you face the big bad villains is somehow the same as giving you a cast that is capable of saving the day themselves. Its not.

I'm sick of the cold steel cast being saved by NPCs. I don't want another infernal castle where all the enforcers are too powerful and the good guys have to be saved by grown ups because they're weak kids. That's not rewarding at all.

To be fair, through all of SC you also get fucked in the ass by Ouroboros at every turn. By the end you do manage to show how much everyone improved as seen by them fighting the enforcers and actually beating them aside from Loewe.

I think the main problem with Cold steel, is that that moment didn't happen yet because the climax of their arc has not happened. Even in Zero/Ao the cast gets outpalyed a lot, until the end where they start to kick back.

Plus, i don't think all of the fights were them being rescued was it? Duvalie and Leblanc were decent, but not THAT strong. Toval and Olivier just fought them in your place so you could keep moving.

It hasn't happened and it's not going to happen now because we're right back at the start with a main cast of weak kids, this time maybe even weaker than the original class vii. Explain to me how the cast is supposed to surpass the lowly heights it reached in cs2 when we have a new class of kids instead of a cast of experienced vets. That's why I'm unsure about this new class vii. It feels like we're going backwards amd that point where the good guys save the day by their own hands will not come.
