Hopes: New game with a new engine, a minimal amount of reused assets from Zestiria/Berseria, no dumb fusion or link battle mechanics fucking up multiplayer, not rushed as fuck with a barren world that feels like a singleplayer MMO, not a Zestiria/Berseria style battle system, Sakuraba taking a break from the soundtrack

Dropped Zestiria around 10 hours in. Never bothered with Berseria.

I want a fresh fucking start with good dungeon designs before I give this series another chance. Seriously the shit lazy dungeons are getting old.

Milla wasn't the sole protagonist and even storywise it felt more like Jude's story. Namco themselves described Velvet as the first female protagonist in the series.

I agree, Symphonia didn't need a sequal because it's story was done, Xillia 2 was made because Initially both games was supposed to be 1 but Xillia was rushed to meet the series 15th anniversary.

New game + Vesperia rerelease on PS4 and Switch

Xillia 2's story has nothing to do with Xillia 1. Yeah they rushed it but Xillia 2 didn't "finish" Xillia, it's completely unrelated. Xillia 2's plot has so little to do Xillia 1, I'm pretty sure they wrote the plot for a new game but then shoe-horned it into the Xilia world they recycle all the assets.

You're not wrong BUT Xillia was supposed to have a significant portion of the game take place in Elympios with Gaius and Muzet being playable but Xillia 2 instead focused on the Kresnik clan (an important name in X1) history with dimension travling, i loved Xillia 2 but i won't defend it's reused assets etc, but the was very dark for a Tales of game and how the characters lives changed and evolved after the events of Xillia 1was done perfectly IMO, unlike the shit show that was in Symphonia 2, but then agaim Xillia 2 was mainline while Symphonia 2 was an escort title.
