"Kids" is a diverse age group who's desires and purchasing power greatly changes by how old they are.

Pre-school kids like Minions, age 4 - 6. Kids older than that are ambivalent or negative towards it. Pre-school children do not get to choose what they want, their parents decide what to buy for them. Children older than that though, tend to easily sway parents into buying things they actually like.

A realistic expectation is the writing will be like that Puzzle & Dragons game, at least for the Mario side.

As minimal as possible dialogue and interaction with the plot/other characters as possible, when the mario characters just tagging along for the adventure because "Bowser has stolen the Crystal MacGuffin and threatens the Mushroom Kingdom"

The OC rabbids will have far far too much screen time as they cram every meme Ubisoft can think of onto paper thin character archetypes.
