If you like a free-form, realistic, rpg-lite shooter with some cool mechanics it's really fun. It's niot too spooky, actually. There are really only a couple times in each of the games that it actually is spooky. You spend most of the time shooting other people. It is a very tense game though. If you want more story clear sky is fine. It's the best looking game in the series. It's also the hardest as enemies will constantly land pinpoint grenades on you, which can be annoying or result in some very frantic and mobile fights. It gets a bad rap because faction wars are a half assed waste of time and it becomes very linear in the later part of the game. All of clear skys areas(and it doesnt have that many new ones) are also in CoC so if you just want more locales out of it you can skip it.

I really didnt like LP2
It looks like its supposed to be fun but it isnt really fun.
Most of the time youre just getting knocked around and the 6 bazillion text things flashing on screen suck

I never played it with other people and maybe thats why i dont like it, but i feel 1 is far superior, the setting is cooler in the first game too.
All i wanted for lp2 was a single player focused experience, like 1 was.

And god damn did i get monkey-pawn'd hard on that one
