I liked the concept of having my own unit and being able to get an S support

the execution was lacking enough in Awakening/Fates that Echoes doesn't seem like it's missing out a whole lot as far as either of those things go.

I still feel a longing for more supports though, kind of lame there aren't that many. I also kind of miss battle themes having essentially but not exactly the same song playing zoomed out and in 1-1 combat, I find myself holding L during Celica's generic(?) battles a bit during the third segment. I'll also admit I liked a fair chunk of the music in Fates, as well as the visuals and classes.

My main issue with the writing or whatever with fates revolves around the prologue though, god damn that was a steaming pile of shit for anything but revelations, and revelations wasn't even all that awesome since Azura was watered down so hard by being available in Birthright/Conquest and revelations being a "you can recruit EVERYONE" mode minus one of the characters I kind of liked plus the asshole with the wild ride I did NOT like.

I'd be interested in having MU for a remake of the Lyn/Roy games though, as well as child characters, since the pacing would work a hell of a lot better for such a title probably god I hope it would anyway.

I wish people would stop bringing this game up. It hurts me every time. They ruined Conquest. It had promise and they threw all that away to make the story revolve around Corrin and Aqua. I wish I could smack the person who thought forcing Aqua into Fates was a good idea. I thought it was going to be a story about Corrin and his siblings trying to figure out what to do about Ganon together but nope. Couldn't have that. They just had to make it all about the mysterious waifu trash.

Well there's the reason that hoshido's the obvious good guys and nohr's the obvious bad guys and it's clear you'd personally be better off with hoshido, but that just gets into how badly they fucked up hoshido and nohr. That choose-your-version two kingdoms concept completely fell flat the way that everything was unambiguous. Now if both countries were doing questionable shit, as countries tend to do, and there were decent personal reasons to side with either family it'd be a different story.

The choose your version two kingdoms concept falls flat because Revelation exists. With Revelation, there's an obvious "correct" choice considering nothing ever gets answered on the other two routes.

They'd probably get a lot more mileage with the weebshit fans if they redid the S-support system so that it didn't just go straight from A "good friends" to S "we're married and love each other forever". But rather that gap is lengthend a bit with another support or prefereably more non-support interactions like map tiles so that the characters are clearly becoming romantically interested in one another.

Basically like the characters are more or less dating, once an MU gets involved it'll hook the weebshits for sure due to the vague parallels with their dating sim VNs, and the whole system will just be less jarring with some kind of logical precident to the characters suddenly being married.


Also, less pairings. It will free development time to realisticaly pull off what I've said and write better romances, and honestly I'm ok with the idea that some characters just can't get along. I'd like to see more same-sex and non-romantic supports that shelf the shipping and flesh out the characters, and some of the S-supports are just totally unconvincing anyway.
