The only '''''''original'''''' aspect (ripped blatantly from lovecraft) was the nautical stuff, but we've seen that thousands of times in other games (gw2/bioshock). Ariandel was souls original (same as painted world) with awesome corvian concepts, northern knights and snowfields and ringed city had new architecture for a city that was dark soul themed with plains of ash and locusts. It's actually staggering how much better it is.

Gael and painter girl aren't mentioned at fucking all in DaS3, and continue to not be all the way through Ringed City outside of Gael's messages spoiling that he's the final boss of the game. The only time they were even somewhat relevant was during a brief period of the first shitty DLC, and they expect you to be floored that they suddenly matter at the end.
