Bethesda is developing 2 other games, not sequels, new IPs that are yet to be announced. They have clearly stated that they are going to be releasing these games first and TES6 will come after.

They have also stated that the current technology is not quite good enough for what they want to do with TES6 so they're holding back on it. Don't expect it to be officially announced until 2019-2020 and no earlier.

Bethesda is trying to expand their IPs so they're not just 'the Elder Scrolls and Fallout guys'.

Also, before you respond with one of the games PUBLISHED by Bethesda Softworks, all of this information pertains specifically to Bethesda Game Studios, the game DEVELOPMENT studio, not Bethesda Softworks the PUBLISHER.

If they're going to go to the effort of doing that, it'd be massively easier to build a gamebryo like framework onto the later idtech engines. Especially since Megatextures are a thing and don't suck shit these days.
