Im about to take my last final. I dont wanna fail.
I really to resub the game again after this, but scare that I might disappoint myself for playing if i dont do well.

So I healed in my first 8 man content yesterday, it was castrum for MSQ

I ended up doing a lot more healing and a lot less DPS than I'm used to and I didn't really like it. Do I just get used to the extra people to heal and start to DPS more, or was my group just shite?

They were probably just shit and so was the other healer. Usually the two split the load instead of one having to do all the healing, which is what it sounds like happened to you.

Usually how healing works at endgame is:

There's two healers, shield one (SCH, Nocturnal AST), and regen one (WHM, Diurnal AST).
The regen healer plays the "main healer" role, drops regen on main tank, and generally babysits him when he needs.
Shield healer does more DPS, and doesn't really heal unless there's an emergency, like tankbusters, or raid damage. Also shields before big hits.

If you're the regen healer, what you should focus on is throwing dots whenever possible on bosses. DPSing is something that requires knowledge of encounters, when you actually can get away with more dps, and when you need to pay attention to the tank and party.

The main melee combo we saw in the trailer uses your black/white mana resources (except the jump skills). Unless there are more melee skills in its kit, RDM will basically alternate between white and black magic (with the "fast cast" mechanic) until both bars are full, then spend all resources on burst damage in form of melee attacks.

They're called ranged damage dealers based on INT. The only time they use melee is when as full resource to dump it in 2-3 melee skills.

The rez macro, ehh, they're kinda useful. They're there to let your co-healer know which dude you're rezzing, if there's 2 down, so that you both don't try to get up the same dude twice.
It also tells them that you just popped Swiftcast so they don't have to waste their mana and swiftcast.
If you want to have one, please don't use some cringy one, or one that demeans the others like "you noob! get up <t>". Personally I have a gold spammer message on mine.

Other than that, I dunno, I don't play WHM. Maybe a macro that drops Asylum on your location.
