They skip everything interesting in the writing, do no skits, have like zero good fight scenes (enemies are literally fucking dementors), Barely have anyone Armatize, ignore the dungeons and stuff to focus on sitting around in boring politics town shit, rewrite a bunch of characters (Rose goes from confident professional to unstable revenge bitch, Maltran isn't evil and is used as a damsel in distress, Lunarre is barely a villain and just shows up a couple of times only to die on the good guy's side, main villain even turns out to be trying to do some good at the end???), Give Alisha more screentime only to have most of it be her moping around like a loser all the time, Jam in tons of Beseria fanwank that completely derails the game's climax (they actually go to the town at the end of Beseria which is somehow still fucking there untouched despite the massive tectonic upheaval???) and then finally they give everyone undeserved happy ending by having Sorey's victory actually purify Eizen without killing him so the whole underlying point of dragons is ruined.

I hope this happens soon. While I would love a remake I would actually prefer a sequel where I can venture onto the Mainland. There is just so much going on outside of the Legacy that it's such a shame for it to all stay a secret. I seriously want to walk through Chloe's town. i've been playing through Berseria and i gotta say this game so far is laughably easy even on Insane difficulty, the only parts that have given me any trouble so far is the occasional enemy encounter consisting of only casters, the Eleanor battle before she joins you and the two first shigure fights. Haven't gotten any further than that though

Eh. Many parts of the world in Xenogears, such as the church, feel rather undeveloped compared to other games with a similar focus on storytelling including the Tales series - namely Abyss. Really the modern state of the world simply isn't explored enough in general, with very few locations to visit and not enough meaningful NPCs, leading to a sense of emptiness despite how detailed the setting and backstory actually are.

I guess that makes sense. It's my favourite game ever (have quite the obsession collection as well) so I'm a little biased about the whole thing. I honestly enjoyed the battle system and aside from tweaking it a bit (adding things here and there) I wouldn't change much. However, I totally agree about everything else, especially the godlike OST.

on the consoles you mentioned there isn't much other than Legendia for PS2 which is a garbage game (despite having a god-tier OST and an above average story) and Zestiria for PS4 (which follows up the story of Berseria and has a similar combat system, like Legendia the game itself is garbage but the OST is really fucking good)

if you don't mind PC/Steam you can get Symphonia there, it's a bit dated but still beats any other options left on PS2,4 and 3DS

Alt Milla was a pure psychopathic pile of garbage. Ludger and the others were forced to destroy her world, they has always expressed regret for their assignments and had the mercy to save her, and she repayed them by either throwing shit at them every single second or by being a very awkward tsundere with Ludger in a sidequest. When she finally started to understand how to not be a dick, it was already too late.

Also, consider the point of view of the first game's Milla: you just managed to resolved with diplomacy and relatively little violence a struggle that menaced to destroy a world divided in two, and both you and your friends are actively trying to make it a better place.
Out of fucking nowhere, this asshole called Chronos arrives and curbstomps you to near oblivion because "muh prophecy" and the only thing that's keeping you alive is the power of the elemental spirits, wich in turn cause them pain.
Not only that, but you can only watch as your old comrades are forced to go around destroying fractured dimensions despite knowing it's wrong, and at some point they're joined by an alternate version of you who's histerical and a complete dickwad.
Finally, after many struggles they manage to get you back with them, and your reunion has to be interrupted by a petulent child who cries because Alt Milla was a special snowflake to her.
This before you have to tell them that the reunion is temporary and they'll probably never see you again after the conflict is over.

If this is not the ultimate middle finger to fans of the first game, the rest of the game is: it's seriously the Blues Brothers 2000 of the Tales series.
