Having no puyo experience, I've managed to reach stage 9 in this game, but I don't think I can make it past that. A lot of that was probably luck in the first place. It's a fun puzzle game but it seems like it'll take forever for me to get actually good at it.

Don't feel bad, anon. Mean Bean Machine is based on the first Puyo Puyo, which kinda fucking sucks. It's the SF1 of Puyo. All the best games came after Puyo Puyo Tsu, which improved the fuck out of the rules and added good shit like offsetting, which keeps 4+ chains from being instant death.

Started practicing sandwhich yesterday tfw still playing the demo. Where can I put pieces I can't use well? With stairs I could stack a color 3 high and then stick some junk on top, but with sandwhich I need to stack 4 high before I can dump shit on top.

I can't even do 4+ chains unless I'm in the practice mode, but the AI usually can't either. I don't necessarily feel bad, it just seems like it'd be a daunting task to actually get good at the game. Not that I think I can't, I just know it'd take a lot of time, like getting good at any puzzle game.

Can I play online if I can get stairs and tailing but nothing else? I usually get around 4 to 6 chains easily but I've seen videos of people online going for crazy shit like 14 chains

Yes.
Definitely.
The thing about the 14 chains is that it only happens if both players let it happen. If you instead set your chain off early, your opponent will either outchain you, or lose.
Alternatively, if you send 2-3 chain harrass his way, until you lock down their chain, then send the rest of your 5 chain, then you also win.
Unless he can dig out a 6+ chain.

The game is pretty fun.

How to puyo:
Avoid popping your first 1-3 color. Deny it, cock it with another color; edge with the new color, build it up to 1-3, repeat. Release after 30 seconds.

Accept gravity, let all those bulbous colors fall and link, image those squishy puyos connecting so there are 2 tits and 2 asschecks combining into 4 mounds. Let the skin indentations combine and then release on it.

I'll never fucking get this. Why do people think puzzle games should be cheaper? It makes no fucking sense. I'd gladly pay the full $60 for Puyo and it ended up being $40 and came with a pair of keychains.
