If you think that burning the civilians as the part you were supposed to question you weren't paying attention.

Too bad we all saw that, OP.

the game forces you to do bad things to progress then breaks the fourth wall to directly tell you, the player, that you're a bad person. not a lot of room for questioning your own decisions there.
>>
>>377984838
I didn't, what was it ?
Did OP go full retard ?

Specs ops the line was shit, and the plot was terrible.
It's the "look mom, I'm edgy" videogame for the casual COD player to say when he wants to feel special.

And to your point, I guess the original Nier and Automata comes to mind since it's recent.

Specially Ending E of automata : Deleting all your save files in order to help another player that you don't know at all? makes you question if you're a good person.
>>

Nice argument.

Silent Hill 2.

Yeah, it was some pretty nasty shit

Literally why wouldn't you? You're done with the game anyway? What's it hurt.
>>
>>377984867

Oh, anon, don't you see, the truly correct choice would be to not play the game at all-that way, you'd never have to do any of the terrible things it would otherwise make you do.

Of course, you'll have to have spent money to buy the game and play it in order to learn this momentous and life-changing lesson, but that shouldn't prevent you from appreciating it.
>>
>>377984867
I think it was more about you the player being able to put down the game at any time and the real choice being playing the game at all.
>>
I'm quite certain I recall that in an interview the director for Spec Ops stated that one of his canon endings is the player just putting the game down and not playing it.
That's really fucking pretentious.
>>
>>377983365
stop posting this shit fucking game
>>
>>377985370

It does seem to ring a bit hollow when someone takes your money and then spends the next few hours lambasting you for giving it to them.
>>
>>377985370
I guess I chose the canon ending then because that "game" was boring as shit.
>>
>>377985172
Without prior knowledge the ending likely sneaks up on you before you have 100% all of the categories like weapons, intel and quests. I think that the type of people most likely to play a Taro game are the kind who go into it expecting to do that, which I guess is why some would choose not to.

The MC was hallucinating and I'm supposed to feel bad about the decisions he made based off the situations he thought he was in? I literally felt no remorse at any point in this game.

Not even for the phosphorous
>>
>>377985172

I didn't. Because no I wasn't done with the game, tons of sidequests, the dlc which requires a level 60+ character at least and the secret boss.

Giving your save meant starting over from level 1.
>>
>>377985370
I see nothing wrong with that, you have no obligation to play the game itself

after all, it's yourchoice :^)
>>
>>377985751

How does that work, anyway? Does someone somewhere in the world start up the game, and suddenly there's a new save file available, or does it give them all your stuff, what?
>>
>>377985929
What? The game just deletes your save file and shows it by methodically erasing components of your menus one by one. Then you just get booted back to the main menu with a new background and the option to start a new game.
>>
>>377986109

Oh. So the whole "helping someone" thing is a blatant lie.
>>
>>377985728

the only part I've ever felt slightly bad about
was when all those dunecoons surround your guy and murder him, I didn't know you could shoot in the air to get them to dispurse. I just massacred them. And kept shooting while they ran.

Actually fuck it, they deserved it.
>>
>>377986154
No it does help them. Basically on the final boss if you can't finish it someone can help you by making it easier by donating to you. This donating deletes their save file. It's a 1 to 1 help someone thing.
>>
>>377985353
That's not how stories work
A story still happens if you close a book or stop a movie
It's retarded
>>
Unironically Undertale.

>>

Notice when he keeps losing lives after he has multiple data shooting at the same time, it says "username data lost"

basically putting weight on your shoulder saying every time you lose a life you just wasted someone's 40 hours playthrough.

LISA the Painful
Spec Ops The Line's big moral dilemma, while original for a video game, has been done a lot better by other mediums, and you dont ever have an actual choice in killing the civilians, so you dont really question it rather than you think about what the game is trying to say by making you go this route, in which they get rather hamfisted about
Post that really pretentious WORDS WORDS WORDS comic with Spec Ops The Line
You know the one
>>
>>377985353
Yeah, that's not a real choice. That's like that thing a couple of books tried to do by calling the reader out on turning the page and causing the problems that arise. That doesn't make you "question your choices" it's a hollow attempt.

My problem is that Spec Ops DOES contain the horrors of war and all that shit, sure, but it's no different from all the Vietnam movies. It just has a different coat with an identical progression. Yet people pretend it's some magical thing that changed games forever.

Alright, fine. Because you asked nicely.

For the record, I disagree with this image too. Apocalypse Now provided a far better medium for telling a similar story
>>
>>377988515
Eh, imo I thought Heart of Darkness did the story better. Then again its been forever since ive seen Apocalypse Now
>>
>>377988515

I learned developers are capable of perpetrating elaborate, $60 pranks at the cost of people who haven't played their new game yet.

Everytime I see this Im always amazed at how much it down plays Heart of Darkness's narrative prowess in order to circlejerk on how 'superior' video games are as a medium
>implying babby's first mindfuck will ever have as much as an iconic pairing as Marlow and Kurtz
