Because The Last of Us Part 1 was actually a good game for its time and the ending blew a lot of people's minds and left on a great cliffhanger and whether you like it or not people love shit like that and the gameplay was pretty fucking good especilly on harder modes where items where scarce and you were forced to play smart. The game earned and deserved all of its praise for a reason.
