Nobody ever responds to me when I ask. Did anybody else in cs2 find that the final boss in the very last dungeon somehow inexplicably took turn after turn after turn right near the end of the fight?

I literally sat there and watched him kill my party members one after another, keep getting turn after turn, and only barely managed to get the finishing s-craft off in time before he finished my last one because for some reason his attack on my last remaining character did no damage. It was weird and nobody else seemed to experience the same issue.

Honestly I don't think a Cold Steel only would understand the greatness of Olivier. He has so little screentime and he's acting like a watered down chinese knock off most of the time. It makes sense if you consider that he's acting as Prince Olivert and that the "facade" of bard Olivier Lenheim is him actually being true to himself, but it doesn't change the fact that Olivier is underwhelming in CS1&2.

Olivier is just a free spirit who loves joking around and diffusing the tension, but can get serious when it's important. If you don't like him you're probably someone who thinks Rean is a good character.

I played CS1 on hard since people suggested I do that if I was used to Trails in The Sky and I would say I was INITIALLY satisfied with the difficulty, but around the time I got OP stuff it stopped being challenging, and then I started feeling the challenge a little after I fought this big Ice Dragon thing that was significantly more challenging than anything else in the area, and then I felt it again for the weird ass Abyss boss thing, but otherwise it was pretty easy.

Yeah that is nice but unfortunately you can only use it in Chapter 6, before you leave for Phantasma and the parties that are not Kevin in Phantasma. Even then I kept her in my party for my Abyss run Infinity Sparrows was super useful for the AoE heavy bosses and throughout the game. I honestly feel shes a little underrated but farming for Morality Sword and Morality Sword +1 as soon as they are available is basically mandatory or she is mediocre.

Machias is an occasionally interesting character idea that shines in a scant few places; his interactions with Patiry, for example, are almost completely different from the rest of the writing that surrounds him; he also gets like one conversation with Crow in CS1 where he talks about how Osborne is improving places like Jurai, which was great.

But because this is given basically zero chances to truly shine over the course of 160+ hours, he just gets remembered as the sperglord who throws tantrums every other time he's on screen.
