To be fair, nerds on the internet are a large enough group that they CAN have more pull than normies, since they're the ones who make the most noise online and are the most emotionally invested in vidya. Just look at RE6. It's actually one of Capcom's highest-selling titles and most normies actually loved it, but the backlash from hardcore RE fans was so huge, that they went in a more survival horror direction after the release of that game.

And it's not even just /v/. Way back on Gamefaqs iirc when GTA:SA was first announced, people were complaining about the black protagonist. It's just hard to believe now considering how well-received the game was.

Def Jam and San Andreas has enough personality to it that the race of the main cast doesn't matter. You could play as some wiggers or philippinos and it wouldn't take away from the experience. That's something that most devs don't seem to understand.

You can't just put minorities in a game like it's an item on you grocery list.

I just like how they look. I don't mind dark skinned girls or anything, but if it was between light skinned, brown, or dark, I'd always go light.
