Do the story first, because that is how you unlock all the ways to make power leveling easier. It'll make a huge difference. You'll want to unlock all the classes and shit that way too. There really isn't much point in power grinding until the post game.

Series has reached a new low in terms of gameplay. I had a 500 hour D1 file and was not even 50% done, 60 hours into D5 I have no idea what else to do.
