The beginning of the game is pretty good, then slowly becomes average

I can understand but ToB is a better game so I guess you should play it just to experience that. There are some characters from ToZ that are basically optional bosses in ToB, kind of like secret bosses and you won't really understand them until you play ToZ.

Personally I miss chose to skip ToZ because I wasn't really feeling it at the time but I might pick it up later.
