ARMS doesn't look very appealing to me, which is a shame cause I liked the idea behind it but the footage they've released over the last few weeks made me change my mind. July: Splatoon 2

If puzzles me how can any say this console has "no games", if anything, it has been having a higher flux of exclusives that any console from the 7th or 8th gen in its first year, let alone months. The PS4 and Xbone were a fucking desert for like 6 months after the release, and the launch games were already bad.

That's legitimately impressive, considering that this is pretty much singlehandedly being carried by Breath of the Wild (which is on WiiU anyway)

Out of curiosity, I looked up the critically acclaimed exclusives from each Nintendo console's release year for comparison.

Since most of /v/ is American I'll just go by the American release year and American titles for games.

I'm not a fan of tactics games, they're just boring as sin to me for some reason, and I love my grindy weebshit usually. disgaea, FFT, jean d'arc, yggdrasil union, all of them had me literally falling asleep. It's a shame really I like the idea of the switch but between my disdain for choices in hardware (joycons are way too small, I got severe hand cramping from 2 hours play with a flatmate's switch when he wanted to try out mk8 with me), and the generally lacking software lineup, it's just tough to justify a purchase to myself. I'm sure other people don't have that many issues with it, but the joycons shape is just bad on top of being small which might not be an issue for most but my hands are fucking gigantic to a point where even normal controllers like the xbone/360 controller and DS4 are a pain to hold.

That's a good point. Most western devs reverse-engineer their games from the marketing first and then work backwards.

Their success is driving the company to pander toward a consumerbase of non-gamers and the result will be shallow, short, simplistic software that to me is considered shovelware. What Nintendo is doing to their ip's via mobile gaming is what konami did to theirs via panchinko machines and then trying to rub it in my face because the fire emblem panchinko machines are selling well. Well yeah, at the expense of the quality of the franchise itself I guess? Take Mario mainline games for example, there have been action platformers that have clowned the series for years now in terms of scope, gameplay content, environments, graphics, etc, but Nintendo can just release a 3 hour game with Mario in the title and it'll outsell everything on the same playing field. When I realized Nintendo games were about marketing and brand value rather than meaningfull content like gameplay, game content, gameplay hours that's when I stop caring. Nintendo games aren't good anymore and that's why their success doesn't mean anything to me, they aren't a game company as much as konami is or developers who make cheap shovelware licened spin off using the heritage of once half-decent ip's to flip a quick buck taking advantage of the ignorance of the p2go mobile/casual gamer crowd who are more infatuated with the idea of being infautated with real nostalgia to realize modern Nintendo games are garbage, designed for 5 year olds and literally insult your intelligence to play.
