you could also put a piece of rubber, like a rubber band, between the head of the screw and your driver to seal the gap

put a rubber band over the screw, then use screwdriver

Take something plastic and skinny like the tip of a pen with the ink tube removed. Heat it slowly and gently over a light or stove burner until the tip get pretty soft. Quickly press it into the messy screw hole and hold it still for a minute. Once you are sure the tip is hard again try and back it out.

Use drill bit and drill into the screw. Then use extractor to unscrew.

but you can normally still get the bolt out with a Hex
