Stick to just using the Basic Unofficial Patch for your first playthrough. I'd also recommend not playing a Malkavian character for your first run. Other than that, make sure not to neglect investing skill points in combat, because the latter half of the game is much more combat-oriented than the first.

Always check shops for skill books. They're basically purchasable level ups.

Play a Malkavian for your first time. That way you'll actually have to think about the dialogue instead of getting three words in and recognizing a wacky version of the exact same line your previous character saw.

Yeah, they are the ones suggested for a second playthrough, as they change the game in significant ways without making it a different game.

Never start as Malkavian, while it's cool that their dialogue is filled to the brim with foreshadowing and metaphors, it's also so cryptic you will most likely have no clue what sort of option you pick 1/4 of the time.

Nosferatu are special as well, so it would be a good idea to play the game properly (learn about the areas and quest givers e.t.c) and then pick them.

If you want to play it for the story, just go Tremere and go full wizard with support skills, his "blood missiles" will pretty much clear most oppoments fasts and leave you with lots of points to invest in secondary skills.

Also seduction sucks, and it sucks even harder if you are playing as a male.

And the whole "Don't open it" thingy is a meme, just do whatever the fuck you want. Just don't say that we didn't warn you...

i heard that too and had the most recent patch but it was bugged.
not sure why or how but in my game it didn't work. i finished the game this year, not sure when but around february i suppose. i prolly patched it last years december or so
