This shit isn't made for free, research and development isn't free, retail shelf space isn't free.

$300-400 for a new console isn't enough to compensate for all of these costs and make a safe profit to keep the company afloat. That's why they're resorting to bullshit like online paywalls that don't go to server costs, and $90 usb hubs.

A 4K, VR-ready PC will cost $500+ but you won't get butt fucked by these retarded fees and overpriced peripherals down the line, and end up spending more money in the long run.

The reason you have to use your cellphone for game chat is that running it in the background would use up resources that the system doesn't have to spare. It has the same hardware specs as the Nvidia Shield Tablet just running a smaller, lower res screen with a plastic covering rather than hardened glass. It's even running a highly customized Android OS variant under the hood.

What you're suggesting would essentially require attaching a secondary gfx card to the dock. It would be something like adding an external gfx card to an old laptop. This isn't really possible through the existing ports on the Switch, but if Nintendo completely redesigned the Switch with this in mind, it could be accomplished.
