Not to mention America does have a lot of "religious cults" given that it's such a free and large country that it's hard to keep them under control, so honestly I think this works well.

Of course, it's going to be the same old farcry game, so I probably wont pick it up, and will instead just pick up bits of the story from online and such and enjoy that for what it is.

It's a fucking shame too. On paper, this isn't a bad idea. The problem is that it's Ubisoft. Every inch of this game will be covered in some political agenda, trying to propagate some fantastical narrative about how this is happening in real life. And the thing is, plenty of people actually fucking believe it. They've never left the confines of their safe space cities, so they'll believe whatever narrative is thrown at them. Hell, I'd be surprised if anyone on the development team has even set foot in Montana, or anywhere even remotely rural.

But ultimately it doesn't fucking matter, since it'll just be yet another horribly generic sandbox game, so who gives a shit. Although I suppose it's possible that this has less to do with pushing some leftist political bullshit, and more to do with generating controversy to get more sales. But I think that would be giving Ubisoft too much credit.
