DGS' Sherlock is pretty atypical, and definitely removed from Doyle's original stories. The actual reason it probably wasn't done was more likely just not enough buyers to justify the localization. Capcom's been on hard times, and they only recently started a turn around.

It's all about jerking off Holmes and Ryuunosuke is barely even a character in his own game, being like AA1 Phoenix but worse.
The Jury system is terrible and, like modern law, encourages showmanship in presentation rather than hard facts. Which makes Barok an inferior prosecutor by default because he can't force Suke to use facts like other prosecutors force Nick to stop bluffing and present facts.
Also one chapter DOESN'T EVEN HAVE A CASE. Because of Sherlock wankery the game focuses much more on story and investigation.
However, the story is incredibly mediocre so it doesn't salvage it.

Sherlock constantly takes a backseat to Naruhodou-kun, and the very beginning of the game is kills off Watson offscreen and immediately establishes the British treat Japanese like an inferior race. Next game's tutorial case is playing as Hugh O'Conner as part of some Academy exam, with Athena being your assistant, letting her show she's become a skilled Attorney with nobody else to overshadow her.

Next case opens with her and Widget teasing Phoenix, when Trucey comes in and mentions something about Pollo. Athena realises Phoenix has some dark secret he's keeping from the two of them, and then she spends the rest of the game discovering what it is and revealing it so everyone will love her because she's finally freed us of this plot point.
