I personally think it is too but it plays fine enough for a beginner and then they can play ANYTHING ELSE and ONLY have up to go from there. Despite all it's flaws it's still worth playing. The only way you'll know most of the flaws anyway is from playing the other games.

I started smt games in nocturne by a recomendation of a anon and while I trudged on to about metatron, once my save was deleted due to computer issues, I realized I really, really wasnt having that much fun. If you trully like a game, even if your savefile is deleted, you want to play again, even if slightly bored by repeating the early parts, but I really didnt feel like it, I just trudged on and didnt have nearly as much fun since demon negotiation was mostly just rng, str was fun but not the best, I had no idea about what fusions did what so every time I fused I both had no idea if I just wasted cash, made a shit demon or if the skills it passed were any better, macca grinding was honestly just a pain in the ass, alongside grinding demons to get their actually worthwhile skills to show up, the underground parts were just tedious to pass through, its not even that the bosses were hard or anything because they really weren't, especialy with fuckers like daisojou and if you got a zhen to inherit war cry into your future demons alongside your fog breath shit was easy peasy, but in the end, was I having fun?

Was concentrating and doing a akasha arts triple hit actually worth doing all that shit, going from pixies to fuckers like shiki? Was it worth going through hours of shit story, shit characters, boring underground sections, demon negotiations, blind fusions, endlessly reloading fusons to get the good skills, macca grinding, demon exp grinding, blind magattama skill betting and going through the crap lucifer dungeons just for some boss destruction and punching lucifer in the dick?

No, it wasnt. It really, really wasnt worth my 50+ hours to go from killing pretas to killing lucifer bitch fodder.
