http://www.pcgamer.com/hitman-studio-io-interactive-suffers-layoffs/

>The future of the Hitman series was put in jeopardy earlier this month when Square Enix announced plans to "withdraw from the business" of developer Io Interactive. The situation seemed to brighten shortly after, when a rumor surfaced indicating that Io will retain the rights to Hitman and proceed with work on the second season. But an update tweeted today indicates that less than two weeks after the studio was put on the block, it has been forced to let employees go.

>The number of employees affected by the cuts isn't known, nor is the status of Square Enix's efforts to sell the studio. It's obviously not good news, but the potential upside is that reduced staff levels could help make Io more attractive to potential buyers. It's also possible—although this is purely speculation—that the layoffs are a condition of a buyout agreement that's been reached but not yet announced.

You know blame doesn't always rest with one person.
IO did their fair share of fucking up the new games. Just because we're laughing at one party doesn't mean we support the other. There's nothing to talk about square enix, so of course people are going to laugh at IO.

Much better to market it properly and capitalize on all platforms selling the game at full price at launch.

Serious Hitman fans don't mind the episodic model, since it gives them time to fully explore and replay a mission between its release and the next one. Unfortunately, serious Hitman fans are not a big enough market to fund a game like this themselves and the others all had a decent amount of casual fans too. They're the ones who are waiting for a full and final release.

what makes you think that they'll make a great game even if there is player feedback?

we just got lucky that it panned out the way it did just like Deus Ex:HR and look at how that turned out.

Look at how Absolution turned out as well and the official forums from here to IO all were screaming "give us BM 2.0!"

Look at how they decided to can and rehire the VA or how jesper isn't in this game. So many fucking factors that can go to shit and you want them to do it in a more frequent manner.

Oh wait, I bet you started with Abomination, the corridor shooter.
>>
>>377883646
Real snippy line there but you're coming off like an unreasonable fanboy.
Why did you like grinding to unlock weapons and items? Why did you like having to conform to a checklist in a game that's meant to be so freeform?
Seems so against the spirit of Hitman. Hiding basic items behind the system like the Silverballers and lethal poison really irked me.
>>
>>377882890
>no sp

???
>>
>>377883825
>Why did you like grinding to unlock weapons and items? Why did you like having to conform to a checklist in a game that's meant to be so freeform?
The "checklist" is an extension of old fan forum stuff where you'd create a new mission in a level from one of the older games by designating a weapon, a disguise, a target and stipulations (no other kills etc.) and share your experiences doing it. It's the same reason they created contracts mode in Absolution (the one thing they actually added that was good). It's very much something added for the hardcore fans, not somebody who plays through each Hitman once or twice.

As for "grinding" I didn't find I needed to do that, because the way I play these games is to get creative and try out various ways to kill targets anyway.
>>
>>377884143
The old forum missions were more complex than what you can stipulate in Contracts mode.

They really should have put more effort and made an actual mission creator.
>>
>>377873597
It felt like a proper sequel to Blood Money which sucks. For the amount of dick sucking Hitman gets around here /v/ has a lot of hate for the second best one for whatever reason
>>
>>377884143
My point isn't that the checklist itself is inherently bad, just that you're so heavily incentivised to follow it.
I don't like thinking "Okay now I have to play the level this specific way because I want that gun" in Hitman.
>>
>>377873852
nintendo
>>
>>377884284
Do you want that same gun, but slightly better?

Do all the challenges of the level again, but in the no fun allowed difficulty.
>>
>>377884284
It's certainly not the best way to handle it. I'd have rather got a BM style cash reward depending on mission performance that you can spend on whatever you like, but Squeenix wanted that online integration for some reason. But very few of the highest ranked rewards are much good anyway, and most are just slight variations on weapons already available instead of actual "upgrades." Who needs an extra 5 bullets in the magazine when you're able to kill the targets in 'accidents' without ever firing a shot?

>>
>>377885212
Yeah, because all the denuvo games usually fails, normal people makes a big fuss about on line when they barely notice it, and episodic format can't help hesitant new friends at trying the game without having to pay full price.
You are overestimating the value of your autistic crusades like the sjws always overestimate the value of theirs.
It didn't work because people in this period weren't interested enough in this kind of game to make it profitable enough for whatever the profit objective was, those 2 things are the only real factors. But put some factors only worst autists care about in this matter if that make you feel like a better little crusader.
